L99 2SS/RS Exhaust "Popping" on Start...

Guys,

I've got a L99 2SS/RS and almost every time I start the car, whether a cold start or after it is warm, the exhaust makes a "Popping" type noise, almost like a backfire. It's done it consistently since I've gotten the car, almost seems like it does it more often now. I've got ~1750 miles on her and I've done an oil change at 500 miles and 1500 miles hoping that it would help correct the problem. Is anyone else seeing this? I can deal with the fact that the car might be a little slower than advertised, I don't really plan on racing it much ever, but the "Popping" exhaust when I start it or take off fast makes me look like an idiot if I want people to be impressed with my new baby...I think you guys know what I mean...Anyone else experiencing this or had any resolutions yet? Also, anyone else find the oil dipstick in this car particularly hard to read? I had to dip it about 6 or 7 times before I was comfortable with the reading....

Thanks,

Y2J

The popping is pretty normal with any cars exhaust. If it goes away when the car warms up its completely normal.

I guess I just never noticed it on my 2005 GTO, or it was muffled because the exhaust on the GTO was ALOT louder than the Camaro...

My 1SS A6 also does this "single pop" exhaust noise on startup.

No codes have been noted and I have "problems".

It's looking like a "normal" sound.

Mine does the same exact thing. I thought it was a problem, but I guess it's normal. It will be interesting to see if it still pops when I upgrade the exhaust.

Its all normal it goes away after it warms up a little, my 5.0 mustang with straight pipes used to wake up the whole county when I would drive out of my neighberhood in the mornings. I miss that pony.

Yup. Same here. Mine does the same thing. Not all do it but I'm not really concerned. However, it doesn't do it after that at all.

I should have rephrased my post above, I changed the oil just for "break-in" purposes, and that I wanted to do it myself at least once on this car. I meant that I was hoping the "break-in" period would have taken care of it. But it sounds like they all do this, at least the L99's...Does the LS3 do it?
