After turning the mirror upside down, can you still use OnStar and the other buttons? Does it after the auto-dimming?

This is a huge improvement and a huge relief. I was really worried about this. My wife is already concerned about visibility when she drives the car. The mirror thing was just one more problem I didn't want. This is a fix I can live with. In fact, it just looks better to me.

Sorry if I offend anyone here but:

The mirror is not as big as it is made out to be in this photo. I have been driving (a Camaro) for two weeks now and have never noticed this as being overly large or creating a blind spot. I am 6'1".

If the photo is taken from where your eye level (line of site) is then you are way to close to the windshield and up too high in the seat.

Now the first part of this could just be the camera. Photos tend to flatten and crush perspective.

Second part; you are up so high in the seat that you are looking at the dash from above and the hood of your car. In your rear view mirror only about 1/3 looks out your back window. The rest is your back seat.

So, since I could not believe that my mirror could be so much smaller, I ran out and took a photo myself. Sorry for the low quality.

I will attach 4 photos to help show that all you need to do is sit better in your car.

1. Your photo with key points outlined.

2. My car from a "better" sitting position.

3. My photo with key points outlined - with original photo's rear view outline the same to show that the photo is sized to match mirrors as proof of scale.

4. My outlines added back to original photo to show greater visiblity.

Look at all that extra windshield!

You can see that the mirror isn't as huge as the OP says and even if it was, if you are sitting correctly, the horizon isn't blocked.

I'm not saying that the Prius wasn't in a blind spot from the way your sitting but I am saying that it doesn't have to be - unless it was floating 5ft off the ground.

And I can't believe you scratched your car up like that!

The mirror is physically the largest mirror that GM has in ANY car. Our Malibu mirror is smaller than it. Why does it need to have the kidney bean shape to it?

Great mod for sure! Ill be doing it when (if) I ever get a Camaro because Im 6'6 and I need all the windshield I can get.

Ha, thems factory scratches bud. but i'll survive!

When I posted the "fix" i guessed that it would only take one hour for somebody to jack my picture, hack it up, slam my photo abilities, and defend the general! well, it didnt happen as fast as i thought, but it DID happen. you guys are so predictable!
i admire your tanacity. if i were in a fight, i want you on my side!

to recap my seating position for you... seat 100% DOWN and laid back a bit.
maybe it is the seat? i have never felt that the seat gets low enough... but if i mentioned that, folks would tell me that i didnt know how to use the switch!
maybe your torso is shorter than your legs (folks are different) or maybe my ass is too big which makes me sit too high!

think what you want about my pictures and experience but it was a problem for me and now its fixed and i'm happy. try it, you just might like it! i think it looks better and EVERYONE could use a little more visibility regardless of height or seating position.
i'll bet that some folks that have bashed me here will do this patch and never tell a soul!

oh yea, one last pic for ya:

Really no different than any other hotrod I have owned… Just a normal thing to me; 6’1” and I have no problem with it…

Oops! Sorry, that sux.

I mainly wanted to show how the angle of the camera can deceive. Even comparing your before and after photos, the camera is lower in the after shot causing the mirror to take up less windshield.

Anyway, I'll stop there and I'm glad you found a fix that works for you.

BTW...thanks for the Kool-Aid!
