I just read this entire thread and I've got to say, DMC, that you turned out an impressive result! If I had the patience I would be tempted to try it myself! Great work! Truly one of the best DIY's that I've read.

I am so jealous! That looks amazing. How much would a job like this run at an average shop that does CF?

There's a vendor on here that sells the dash pieces and door panels for $500 I think. Check out camaro style dot com

G3-Concepts is/will be selling them (with ABL) for like $700 ish I believe.

Pardon the double post (Also in the ABL paint DIY)

I received some trim pieces to do a CF overlay on them but instead decided to try putting the CF on the inside since I've had issues finishing some of my other overlays (I can't get the clearcoat or epoxy polished without some minor defects). I figured I would try this first so I wouldn't have to mess with finishing the top coat.

I first followed the instructions here http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=244860

Then I taped the front side to avoid epoxy run and marring the surface.

Next I put a base coat on the back side, waited for it to tack, applied the CF cloth.

THIS STEP IS IMPORTANT ENOUGH FOR CAPS LOCK
I wore latex gloves and pressed the CF cloth to the piece to remove bubbles between the cloth and trim piece. I didn't do this the first time and ended up with some pretty big bubbles in the epoxy.

I put another coat of epoxy on the cloth, let it set, trimmed the excess, and here's the end result.

I'm really pleased with the results and can't wait to tackle the larger trim piece and the door panels. I'm hoping to be able to retain the ABL on the door panels.

That looks great!! Let me know if you are able to retain the ABL, I've been trying to figure out a way to do it with no luck
