I have the same exhaust setup you do. I just ordered the off road pipes today because I am in the process of boosting my car and I don't want to take the chance of them melting. I guess if you are running stock boost you should probably be ok. Probably better if other experienced guys chime in over me though.

Much better off going catless unless you live in a state with tough emissions

+1 -- if you're going to run it hard, off road or you'll melt them with repeated abuse...

Guys,

For what it's worth, I just removed my Stainless Works HF cats yesterday because everyone was telling me that running 9.5 psi is asking for trouble. I was convinced that they were going to be melted after reading ALL of the posts on this forum. To my surprise, after almost 2 seasons of drag racing, they are in PERFECT condition. I am a firm believer that your tuner has everything to do with HF cat failure. I went ahead and installed off-road pipes just to be safe, but I thought you'd like to know.

I agree, just wanted to let everyone know. It's cheap insurance. I was shocked at how great mine looked!

Can't you just use high flow cats and then gut them? After all a gutted cat is better than off-road pipes because if you get a spot inspection done if you get pulled over or anything it still looks like you have cats put on instead of off road pipes.

I had the kooks high flow cats and gutted then for the visual inspection and didn't want to deal with a clogged cat down the road.

It is a very small difference. It is a little louder, not sure I would say "deeper", definitely not "raspy" to me. I also have cutouts, and it is definitely Louder with them open, that is where I can hear the difference more.
