Passing inspection with tune - Camaro5 Chevy Camaro Forum / Camaro ZL1, SS and V6 Forums

So I have my car tuned and it won't pass ny state inspection. The evap and egr monitors are staying in the "not ready" status. No amount of driving or cold starts will change it. The tuner says nothing in the tune can cause this. But I never had this issue until the build. Is there something I should look for in hp tuners?

That’s really interesting- I would disconnect the battery and reset everything then fill gas 3/4 of the way (not a full tank) and drive it included highway then retest imo. See if they them complete

In HPTuner you would go into the DTC settings and make sure everything associated with the EVAP and EGR are set to "no mil/error reported"

Maybe the tuner just shut off the CEL in the tune, but didn't change the error reporting?

I'll take a look in the tune tonight and see what's on or off. Worse case I can always register it in florida with family address.

EVAP and EGR are odd things to be holding you up. If you don't have any flags when you monitor with HPT, maybe return all your DTC's to stock to see what trips so you can make sure it's disabled properly.

The choices hp tuners gives are

No error reported
Mil on first error
Mil on second error
No mil light

They change the wording every now and then, that's why I gave the /. I would try setting them to no error reported (if they aren't already).

Sometimes just setting to No Mil Light shuts off the check engine light, but doesn't allow readiness to set.

Thank you for the response guys. I will be trying some of these options over the weekend. I hope it works. Florida insurance rates are even higher than NY rates lol. But I'll be down there next week so if this weekend don't work I might have to start the process.

Well I was going to try but I never got to it over the weekend. But I did manage to buy a new house on Saturday! My baby will be in a garage soon. Hopefully I can get to it this weekend if it doesn't rain.

That's why I like ECS so much. I get to communicate with the owner every time. Perhaps this will be my future preferred shop for work.

Very strange - that sucks. Since they tuned the car they should figure this out.
