Unhappy My Engine is Gone !

Well I wrote a thread about what happened to me: http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=322910

Basically I drove through standing water and my car lost oil pressure and died. I had it towed to a shop today I was told that a lifter basically tour a hole through my block and shot the oil pan off . They said that it could be possible that my engine sucked in water due to my intake but they haven't really taken it apart to find out if that is decisively the case. Basically I need a new engine. I don't really know what to do at the moment but hopefully tomorrow I am going to the shop to determine my options. . I have really enjoyed my car and hope we can get here a heart transplant .

I do have aftermarket parts (Headers, exhaust,CAI) not tuned though so I am not sure about warranty.

Sorry to hear I know exactly how that feels. Welcome to the club. Same happened here. Sucked water and blew the motor. Insurance will probly give you about 5k for a remanufactured ls3 and some money for install. What I did was take that 5k and get an all forged bad mofo motor and paid the dif out of pocket

The CAI isn't going to help with the warranty claim if the investigation determines the intake sucked a gulp of water..
That causes hydraulic lock since water does not compress in the combustion chamber. That's why a rod went through the pan.

Um, this makes me not want to get a CAI... I'm one of those guys where anything that can go wrong, usually does. I was interested in CAI, mostly because I've heard they sound so nice. Hmmmm

Only forseeable way an intake did this is if it were one of the Injen or K&N longtube intakes the vara, roto, CAI and others aren't close enough and have a decent amount of material to keep water away from it unless you submerged your car in said standing water.
