You can get a manual or auto in a Camaro LS.
You can get a manual or auto in a Camaro 1LT.
You can get a manual or auto in a Camaro 2LT.
You can get a manual or auto in a Camaro 1SS.
You can get a manual or auto in a Camaro 2SS.

Why would GM make an automatic transmission the only choice for the Z28?

Because people like to wine like little babies. Its a test mule, not production.

Looks like an easy conversion for us SS supercharged guys. Change out bumper and hood and throw on the axle back portion of the exhaust and cut out as needed or buy the rear valance. Woo hoo !! We can have a Z28 look alike with more power to the tires than it puts out that will be a surprise for other "regular z28's rolling around!

NICE !!!!

Went from an SS to an LS3 C6 z51... but this just might bring me back in Camaro territory !

These tires are the same optional C6 grand sport and Z06 tires, the new Goodyear Eagle Supercar G2 ... and also a mustang optional !! ....

lets hope the camaro sizes will be closer to the ones in this link (mustang gt 500 option sizes ?) because the corvette gs and zo6 sets go for $1900 ! at this price might as well get a set of Michelins PS2 zp ... best in the genre.

anyway, here is the Tirerack link : http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires....upercar+G%3A+2

Cheers.

Yeah but down the road, a stock z/28 will be worth more than an SS modded to look and handle like a z/28.

Or, is it that you just HAVE to have the Z28? Curious...would probably be cheaper just to install the same SC that's currently for sale...and you know you will probably be able to install the same front fascia...etc...

It doesn't seem to be the hype should be so huge...but, again, it's cool it's been spotted...we'll see what she turns out like in the end.
For me it is both, the GM warranty and finally buying my Z/28. I always wanted a 69 Camaro, but when the new Camaro came out, it's lines were so beautiful, I no longer wanted the 69. I just knew that GM just had to make a Z/28 with the the new design, OK so I have had my fingers crossed. This Z/28 will be my retirement present to myself and it will sit proudly next to my 67 Vette. it will be nice to have at least one car with a warranty.

I'm sure you could make a SS out perform a new Z28, but at the end of the day. Its still a Z28!!

We're talking badges and warranty, with the HP. Prices approaching used low mile ZO6's though.

keep your stock parts and when you go to sell it put them back on ! i think a 2010 ss will be worth more than a 2012 z28 in the future simply because it was the first year back in the mix !IMO

True, but GM still shouldn't put a ridiculous price on it just because it has the hallowed Z badge. Many people here think the SS should be the top dog when it comes to power output, which is why they will stay with their SS and modify it to perform better than the Z.

I'm excited about the Z, but I hope GM doesn't put it out of the reach pricewise for the enthusiasts that want it.

I'm with you brother. keep it within reach of the the everyman. Otherwise, it's an SS with mods for me. If GM can keep the price doable, that mod money might just go into their pockets via Z28

I don't think this is the new Z28.....this a test mule for parts. The new Z will rock the auto world. I have seen SS here blow this away. I believe some of the parts on it will see the Z. Also I want to put money down now, trade my RS in as soon I can get one. Looks like sooner than later.
