Carbon Buildup on rear of car

It's getting a little frustrating. My car is white. I wash it and the car is perfectly clean. However, over a period of a day or 2, black dots/powder...probably from the exhaust build up on the rear of the car.

No mods to the car aside from the removal of the fuse to keep the exhaust flap open all the time.

Would this be causing it? I can't believe how much is being built up. Even my exhaust tips get dark quick. I thought new cars had to have better emissions systems.

Thoughts? Should I put the fuse back?

Try the fuse ! I have a white ZL1 and it stays in track mode with a Atak full exhaust and my car never gets carbon buildup. What grade of gas are you running ? I run 93 octane.

White cars are hard to keep clean. Anything you can do to clean up the exhaust helps. Do you have a catch can? They are good to have on these cars for many reasons. I'd also recommend getting it ceramic coated. You can just wipe it down when you're done driving it.

I'll try putting the fuse back. I either use 91 or 94 octane depending on what is available where I'm filling up.

I just don't understand how a newer model car can spit out so much carbon build up with regular not spirited driving.

These cars run almost pig rich, not just when the driving turns spirited. Octane level is not going to make a difference, neither will a catch can. Rich tune + white car = noticeable exhaust residue.

I have noticeable buildup after 2 days of driving. Granted it's L.A. streets. No mods to exhaust. White car! Going to go ceramic route.

My ZL1 is silver and less noticeable than a white ZL1 but my outside exhaust tips are black due to the fuse pull I did. Of course I washed it about a week ago and the tips are still clean. I went to Summit racing in McDonough and bought a drop in Summit racing air filter and seems like it may not be running so rich now.

I honestly wonder how (or if) people manage to do this and not put swirls and scratches into the paint. Are you ceramic coated and do you do a touchless wash every 3-4 days, or a regular two bucket wash, or...?

The main reason I believe the back of the GM sportcars build up black carbon is the tip design. being bell shape at the tip is a bad idea(Exhaust flows over on bumper/ license plate). My chevelle had a big block 468 that ran pig rich, but my tips are straight out, with my Atak tips there straight out also. These flare/bell tips are a poor design.
