Okay to use ramps on V6 for oil change?
Sorry for posting this here. I know it's not the right forum, but I posted it in the oil maintenance forum and I got no replies and I really need to know. Again, sorry in advance. :(
Anyway... I'm a noob at changing my own oil, but I want to take care of my Camaro myself, so I'm about to perform my first oil change, and I have a question based on the V8 oil change guide that was front page'd a while back. It looks like the V6 oil drain plug is on the side rather than on the back, so is it okay to put the front of the car up on ramps and change the oil (basically, the car would not be level - the front being higher than the back)? My dad is telling me that the entire car needs to be level for the oil to completely drain out properly. Please advise! Thanks! |

Can get a better drain just using one on the other side of the plug.
Harder to reach but you get more old oil out. |

When I performed my oil change, I just used a ramp on the drivers' side only....that will do the trick...(oh....and I supported the rear end with a jack lift)

Myself I just let the dealer do it ..... It gets me out of the house, and they do the change top off all fluids and pressures. I'm getting to old to be crawling under cars, and only cost me $25 ....

Nice dealer...I called for mobil one oil change at dealer they want $95!
So I buy 6 qts for $30 Mobile one (walmart) plus ac filter (online) for $5 and do it myself. Plus I know its well done. best J |

I really like where the oil filter is so you can change it from the top. It is a much cleaner change!
