Rolex Camaro - What engine's in the GT.R Camaro???
Has anyone seen the results from the Montreal Rolex race August 28th. Dang Corvette first, Stevenson Camaros 2nd and 3rd!!!!!! Wow, what a Chevy finish! I am curious, I know the series GT cars are limited to 400HP, but what specific engine are they using? Is it a detuned Corvette LS. R or what?

I probably got my facts wrong but the engine is a katech prepared LS6 race engine. I think the GT class is limited to 450 HP at the crank.

I know the Camaro's in the Continental series are very close to stock. They use the LS3 and have some suspension and exhaust work.

My guesses are a stock LS3 in the Continental car, and a modified LS2 in the Rolex car.

Mickss is correct, the Camaro GT.R uses a LS6 engine. http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showth...highlight=gt.r

Hey people. Sorry, just saw this post. The engines that were run last season were CRD LS2 version.

I work for the series but am not a tech guy. However, I just got off the phone with the guy who does this for our series so here goes: Camaro teams can currently choose from a basically stock 5.7 liter LS 6 motor that makes about 430 HP or they can use a 6 liter LS 2 motor prepared by Katech engine builders with the main difference from the stock engine being an upgraded cam shaft. GM is currently working on a submission for the series of a detuned LS 3 motor that is currently in the street Camaro. It will have to be detuned some because the stock motor makes about 430 HP but once you put it in the race car with all of the performance parts it ends up making a bit more than that. Hope that helps and feel free to keep the questions coming and I will do my best to get them answered.
