ok, i know nothing about dynos, so i'm not going to argue with anyone about my results after the flack that tram caught. i'm just gonna post what info i got. these runs were done on a dynapack, and i verified the guy was using 4th, his rig was sensing the environmentals, etc.
i will say the first time i actually took her out, i put her through the paces on the highway, by which i mean i broke almost every rule the manual had, but without feeling like i was beating the $hit out of it. and, i'm only at a little over 360 miles now. |

I was getting on it onto the freeway today and I bent her sideways again. Wow. That's crazy fun. It feels like the car is loosening up in a good way. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Electric Power Steering.
A 30hp jump is pretty significant. I would like to see the fact that there are two cars making those numbers explained. With fair consideration given to the gears, they are not good for 30 Hp. Lets be honest. Something else would have to be helping. Maybe the 1LE got a slightly hotter tune from the factory. Maybe it's a combo of all the changes? Sent from a rainbow while riding a unicorn

Maybe it's how they broke them in? My neighbor was suggesting putting bigger pulleys on the car to reduce the amount of idle power but felt you'd only get 3HP (three). I somehow don't think the EPS yields 30HP but what do I know. I will saying gearing is a huge. When I heard the 1LE had 3.91s I jumped on it. My '84 Z28 had 3.91 or something close it would hookup between 1st and 2nd and 2nd and 3rd regularly. But it was only 245HP.

I would argue the break-in might be the biggest factor.
1) my wheels weren't even on the car, if you noticed in the video. 2) eps and npp probably contribute to a slight bump in power, but I can't imagine it would be roughly 30hp 3) Shawn, my dyno operator today, was telling me how he's seen evidence that a harder break-in results in more power. He had a couple of guys who bought new GTS Celicas (iirc) at about the same time. 17yo kid beat his to shit, slightly older guy babied his by the book. Kid had a lot more power and faster times. So there's my evidence for breaking it in a little harder than the book wants. I wouldn't say I was beating my car, but I broke almost all the recommendations in the book at least a few times |
