rear bumper cover scrape. need help

i put this in the DIY section, but no help there... anyways.

i was parked at school, and when i was leaving i noticed that my bumper was scraped. i dont have enough money to replace it, but i think its fixable, im not sure though.

i searched the forum but found nothing about this. can someone please give me a DIY on how to fix it or tell me what to do. thank you.

Sorry buddy - no fix for that, its down to the raw plastic bumper. Its going to need a re-paint, you can minimize the terrible look of it by polishing it. It's not going to look great, but 50% better at least.

what if i strip the whole bumper (sand it down) and repait it. is that cheap-ish?

that is what is needed... if you feel you're up for the task, and can make it match

Are you a autobody painter? Krylon isn't going to fix that. A professional with a paint booth, is going to have to grind it down to even it, prime, base, and clear coat it. Then color sand and buff. Polish it for now, and get it fixed when you have some extra coin.

Don't you have insurance? That's covered as a collision, depending how much your deductible is, that could save you some money. Definitely needs repainting, professionally, not by you. I think Jagan is spot-on for the repaint. I'd say more like $300. For that amount, I probably wouldn't bother with insurance, especially since more than likely you have at least a $500 deductible like most people.

Sorry this happened, at least it's not as bad as mine was. But I feel your pain, I was right there a couple weeks ago. Now it's good as new and I couldn't be happier. Good luck

i dont want to go through insurance because i dont want it to show up on carfax, and i dont want my insurance to be any more expensive (im 19 so it already cost a lot).

and ifs its like 300 bucks then i might as well buy a bumper on ebay and paint that.

Should be around 300-400 to have a bumper resprayed depending on where you live. Don't buy a bumper on ebay that doesn't correctly fit the car - a good shop in your area should be able to take care of this.

I have two small abrasions on my bumper, through the clear coat. I got two estimates from paint shops, one was $600 and the other was $900. Your repair I'm sorry to say, is not going to be cheap.
