hand wash, then leaf blower to get the majority of the water off and out of the seems and mirrors and door handles the grill. then dry with a microfiber waffle weave towel with Duragloss aquawax or Meguiars D156 x-press wax as a drying aid for some lubrication.

As I used to detail vehicles on the side, I have always done my own vehicles. The only exception was during my year plus long battle with cancer (2013-1014); during that period, I had found a good, local detailer to do them. The other exception is since my surgeries, I no longer do my wife's CUV due to some limitations.

I use Zaino products on the exterior of both the Camaro & Corvette; Meguire's for the interior. Both get clay barred at least once a year, waxed when needed and spray detailed every time they're washed (at least once a week).

Wax every few months with Nufinish polymer wax.... Was with good wax in the soap wash with microfiber towel, dry with regular terry cloth to avoid large water spots. Thought about going zaino someday....

Hand wash only! No soap on the convertible top - water only! Chamois cloth to dry the windows and mirrors first, then the rest of the car and wheels. Detailed at the dealer once per year.

Why does taking care of your car imply that you don't drive it? I can certainly tell the difference between my own end result vs the local car wash, and that's all that matters.

Wash every Friday rain or shine because it usually doesn`t come out of the garage again untill Monday morning. A through rinse and rince and rince again before hand washing I usually start with the wheels using a micro fiber mitt or some type of soft tool to reach the inside of the wheel. Then starting on the roof with a different miro fiber mitt then onto the hood and then moving to the front then sides above the body line and then the rear then back to the lower half. Rince again and again before towel drying for the most part then leaf blower to finish the drying proccess.

There are "guys who have a car," and then there are "car guys who have a car." The "car guys" are into cars for many, many reasons. They drive them, they fix them, the clean them, they treat them differently than the guys who... just have a car.

That is not too much time on their hands, that is part of being the "car guy."

One has to be one to understand that..

I have 13 cars, and I do clean them myself. Since I work out of an office in my home, though, I don't drive a lot any distance... so they don't get dirty to the point where I have to be like the guy who waxes it after every drive, or the guy who takes it apart down to the last bolt, cleans all the screws, fasteners, and part, and then puts it back together again.

I usually drive it to the corner where there is a self wash - I do wheels, tires, car, then use the "spot free rinse." I drive an extended way home, which dries it off, and then take 5 minutes to dry off anything that remains and maybe clean the glass.

I'll use spray wax "between wax" and a microfiber between washes, if necessary. Those kept inside don't get very dirty. Those outside... well... I'm trying to buy a warehouse still and hope to find one soon because I hate leaving any of them outdoors..!

From the guy who does too much, to the one who does too little. There always are the extremes. Somewhere in the middle are where the car guys meet.

My neighbors already think I'm crazy washing my car using methods that have been mentioned here but I haven't used the leaf blower yet.

They are going to think I have finally lost it...LOL!

I buy a pass at a local car wash that has an undercarriage rinse and go through as often as I want, but with the new 1LE and the front clear bra I need to find a touchless car wash now.. Might be difficult.
With our water restrictions lately, they basically made washing your car in your driveway a ticketable offense.. Haven't heard of anyone actually getting a ticket, but don't need any extra reasons for the city to come by and bother me.
I did wash mine by hand when time allowed, but that was only a few times a year.

That's too bad. I hope that doesn't get to where I live in AZ. I heard in Tucson they make you have desert landscape because of it. If it ever gets to be against the law I will just have to put on some Judas Priest and take my chances. Nah, probably would do the same as you. I don't want any trouble either.

I have to have mine done by "professionals" and pay $30. I live in an apartment so I can't do it myself there.
