Splash Guards dealer ripoff?
Why do I have to pay my dealer to "paint" splash guards (quarter flares) Imperial Blue, when everyother color comes from GM? Dealer wants $429 plus sales tax to paint and install. GM list price for other colored splash guards is $199. and you can get them on the gm parts site for $145.

429 WHAT?! That is a joke. I cannot understand why they sell them for every other color except imperial blue metallic. For that price you could buy 2 sets of them. Thats crazy. |

I bought mine from parts direct, $160, and had a local shop paint them aqua blue for $270, and I installed them myself. Total of ~ $430 without installation. So your price sounds about right.
Sure wish they made them and the heritage grille in all colors, hint, hint...

Is the dealer painting them... or more likely sending them out to a painter to be painted.
They're just gonna foreward the invoice to you if it's the later.

How about going with black? Might look good having contrasting colors?

GM Splash Guards for $179
I got mine for $179 (rally yellow) at the dealer in about two days. I took them to my friends shop where we took off the wheels and put them on. It was very easy to do.

When I got my car, the dealer wanted $900! I was like yeah, let me think about that, no!

I'm not sure why they don't make all colors from gm parts direct. I bought mine for a total of $160 (prepainted RJT), put them on myself in about 45 mins. You do not have to take the wheels off to install. Anyone who's done it before should be able to install them in 20 mins.
Maybe buy the black and see how it looks? (They do seem to help with the chipping on the gills) If you don't like the color, see if a local body shop will paint them Imperial Blue? Bet you'd get a better price for paint from a local guy, then install them yourself.

I ordered cyber gray metallic for my synergy to match the stripes from GM parts direct. Good product, shipping was fairly slow, took a total of 2 weeks from when i placed my order. I will be putting them on this weekend (my car is getting the front repainted right now). I will post pics

I was complimented about how well they look. From this angle they are the most noticable, if you see a car that has them on it, you won't notice them. |
