you would have to call your dealer, but i would think it would void your warranty.if you put that cam in,you would have to do a tune.

Just because the dealer installs it, doesn't mean that your factory warranty won't be affected. They are a business that needs all the work they can get, so they'll do just about anything you ask. Now expecting your factory warranty to cover anything that wasn't on your car when you bought it new, is rediculous.

Actually the LS7 cam isn't that big a deal compared to the LS3 cam. The LS7 uses 1.8 ratio rockers and the ls3 uses 1.7 ratio. The LS7 has a very wide lobe seperation and a lift around .600" You would not get that much lift with the LS3 rockers.

Any cam change from the original configuration would be a potential to lose on a warranty claim.

I would guess that the change would be so minimal that it would not be worth the time and effort.

LS3 cam - 204/211 .551/.525 117

LS7 cam - 211/230 .591/.591 120

This would present a minor power increase, mostly in the upper RPM range. It would also maintain streetability when tuned. But regardless of who does the tune/install it is not going to uphold your warranty.

Personally, if you are going to do a cam, I would get something much more radical. I think GM went way too conservative with the LS7 cam for the amount of displacement the motor has, and the potential in the cylinder head design.

I actually called Comp Cams about replacing the LS7 cam in my engine with something better, but they didn't have anything that was emissions legal. They told me the LS7 cam was a well engineered cam for power and emissions for the LS7 engine.
To take advantage of this cam in an LS3 you would have to use 1.8 rockers (does anyone make them for an LS3?) as stated previously.

If I want to go with cam, how much extra power should I expect with full bolt-ons and tune? will it reach 450 - 480 RWHP?

I am actually confused with two cams from Thunder Racing:

The new LS 224/236 .609/.607 117 LSA or the new cheatr 219/230 .607/.604 117 LSA

Any one have tried them before?

Thanks,
