Cold Air Intake on stock LS3 ? worth it.

Is a Cold Air Intake on stock LS3 ? worth it. Do you need a tune. I have read on GM high tech that stock works best.

RS SS LS3 MRT axle back only.

What are your plans for the car? if thats all you are going to do then i would look for one that requires a tune. That will gain you the most hp out of one. Nothing bad about the stock box. It does perform well. Now if your going o put headers, cam exhaust and other mods then yes switch out from the stock box because it wont help you maximize your new mods.

I've got the Cold Air Inductions CAI and no other performance mods and there's a little difference in feel from stock on the butt dyno, but nothing that I've quantified yet.

+1

basically, any aftermarket one will give you a little better WOT sound and a few HP on a stock motor so I would agree with the tune comment ^ (just be careful with Vararam...do your homework )

and theres nothing wrong with the stock box so if you wanted to keep that and save a few bucks, you could just get the SLP tube and get rid of the restricting accordion

I now have the MTR axle back exhaust. That's it so what cold air intake is best. after 3 years I may have LT headers installed.

there are allot of cold air intake systems out there that perform very well
roto fab, air riad, afe, adm etc.. all depends on personal preference if it were me i would go with either roto fab or adm

if i was going to get a CAI and that alone.. nothing else.. i would not get one... your gains wont be to big... you should get a handheld tuner.. and CAI then its better

For me, I don't see the point of spending $400 for 5hp..i doubt you'll be able to feel 5hp.

i'll do it when I get some headers and a tune.

But 13 is darn good and you can feel 5 hp if you know your car.

Yes noticeable Throttle response difference and quicker acceleration, that is what everyone notices right away.

Ted.
I see your doing a 2nd test. Looks like I should get a tuner to go with this also.?? I am thinking I should wait untill LT headers and do all at once.
