Short throw or no!
What's up guys, I'm really thinking of getting a short throw after driving one of the guys in my club. But imtrying to decide if it's worth the money and what all do you have to purchase to install it. Most everyone has a hurst but what other models are guys using and best prices. If you all could shed some light on the issue as far as pros and cons and any problems associated with them. Thanks ahead of time.

Search "can anyone confirm this" thread. It might help.

I have the Barton, it is the shortest throw out there and it is adjustable. Saw and tried the Hurst, nice shifting but the noise was there under full throttle.
For the money and service Barton is the way to go ! I'll be putting one in my vert this week (If it ever gets here).

Over a year on the MTI shifter. One of the best mods I've made. Recently drove a factory installed Hurst shifter equipped 2011 SS as well as a 2011 SS with the stock shifter and neither can come close to the positive, slop free, quiet operation of the MTI and in my opinion the MTI throw is just right.

I have the factory Hurst, I love mine, NOT a bit of slop and I have never heard any noise. I have drove one with and without and its definately worth the money to answer your question!!

I have the Hurst, love the look and feel, in daily driving. At full throttle the vibration is terrible and you really have to yank it into second. 2nd to 3rd is good.

I have the Hurst n love it. It does vibrate under hard acceleration however.
I have not missed a gear since I installed it. Shifting is exact!!!! And I love the classic look. |

I have the Hurst, and have absolutely no vibration issue. I didn't use the cue ball kit, but just topped it offwith the stock leather ball assembly. I know a few guys who run the cue ball set up, and none have the issues your talking about. Must be an install issue.
