Are there any "free mods" for the 5th gen like for the 4th gen?

Other than perma-grin I know of none. What sort of mods were you thinking?

Can you give an example of a "free" mod?

Free mod would be something along the lines of chiseling out your cats, removing baffles, chopping mufflers off

In highschool I took a drill bit and drilled holes in my air box! (Pretty sure that did nothing)

On the 4th Gen, you could convert the air box to "ram air" with a little cutting, the EGR on some engines had an obstruction in the manifold that you could cut out, and on the TB, you would grind the stop to get the blade to fully open. About 10rwhp was available from these "Free Mods" IIRC.

Get some paint out of the closet and paint nawz on the throttle body or engine cover.

I'm sure you could chisel, remove, or chop a bunch of stuff on the Gen5... just don't know why you'd want to. ;-)

If you have the dual mode exhaust, you can pull the fuse to have it always opened.

As far as I know, there's not much. I had a '00 Z28 & I did the air box mod
As well as the throttle body coolant bypass. If you have an M6 the skip shift eliminator is a cheap mod. |

One of my blissfully ignorant friends with an SS that he received as a present (must be nice) made a $10 intake by doing some cutting, using a K&N filter he took from a salvage yard, and a cheap, flexible rubber tube/clamps from home depot to run a "cold air intake" into the bumper. It runs like sh*t, way too lean but he's happy with it, go figure. To each their own, but I think aftermarket companies exist for a reason... That reason being that free (or $10) mods won't give you any gains
