Well said. Now if the op would consider the 1LE with a cam upgrade (as I did for $2600.00) he would enjoy the extra hp. Mine does quite well on the track, and comfortable on the street. Btw, AIRBORNE to you trooper. I served with the 2/508

Personally as an old guy. I feel if the road conditions were marginal, sych as wet, or cold the ZL1 could very easily get away from you and end up wrecked pretty easy. I find the 1LE with its 425HP, somewhat lacking, occasionally, but hey it was easily $15k cheaper. Since I use my 1LE really as a street cruiser, and part time fun car only. Depends on what you ultimately want to do with the car, and your money.
Plus after reading some of the posts on the ZL1 portion of this site. It seems as if those magnetic shocks have a habit of leaking without alot of miles on them. And they are very expensive to replace.

There were 2436 ZL1's and 2468 1LE's produced in 2014 so both models are on par as far as rarity.

Threads like this always make me laugh, its more for entertainment purposes IMO than someone really asking about what they should do. "I know, lets ask a bunch of people what I should do, then get them all arguing about why I should do it!"
your asking two of the most particular types of people too tell you what to do....lol Go drive both of them and then decide for yourself.

OP you might want to wait a few months. Chevy's Mark Reuss says the next SS will be pretty close to the performance of the existing ZL1. Which makes me look forward to the next ZL1 given the performance success of the Z06.

I debated that as well when going through my purchase process. I do love the ZL1 but I personally don't think it's worth the amount of extra money when I could get the 1LE with most of the key features other than the supercharger. Before I get attacked yeah I know there are a few other things the ZL1 has. Probably helps that I got a great deal on mine too. I also like the fact that I have yet to see another 1LE in my area but there are several ZL1s. I actually have only seen 1 other 1LE on the road but there are 6 ZL1s that I know of in my small city of Warner Robins. All that said you can't really go wrong with either so happy hunting.

there was an article in camaro now and the guy had the same choice. he knew he was going to add more power. the only real difference was the magnetic ride (?).
its a good read. gl!

Considering you don't know me in the slightest, I'm curious on what basis you believe you can question my integrity. And for the record, nobody was arguing. Have a nice day. |

Anyway... I actually considered a 1LE with heads and cam, but watching the classifieds threads, $$$ on mods end up in the toilet and make it harder to sell your car. Everyone knows you lose money on depreciation, but I'd like to lose as little as possible. |
