Hi i drive a completrly under-the-hood stock A6 SS, with my only mods being the interior or exterior. I was curious on if the installation of an x-pipe on a completely stock l99 will make the car louder or have any horsepower changes? I am completely clueless when it comes to the mechanics of this car.

The stock resonator on the L99 is to prevent any drone when the car goes to AFM. Replacing it with the x-pipe may increase drone, but I'm not sure how it will sound with the stock mufflers. I have an x-pipe with Magnaflow mufflers on my car and I don't hear any drone. You may feel a bit of increase in performance, but probably not that much.

I have the factory mufflers on with a x-pipe and even with my mods it isn't much louder (if at all) when cruising. Somewhat when accelerating, maybe 10% more. It sounds better though in my opinion w/o the resonator.
