Sometimes? Maybe a little more experience behind that wheel might help...

Between the V8 vs. V6 war and the Automatic vs. Manual debate, this is the same thing...over and over again! I had a V8 Challenger SRT with a 6 Speed Manual and every time there'd be a group of people together with our Challengers, these issues would always come up. ALWAYS! And after a while, it becomes painful to listen to. Besides, I really felt that I wasted money on the V8 because all I got to do with it was tell everyone that it was a V8 and let them listen to it. Speed limit here is only 65, and I don't race, so it was just a bragging rite that I fell for. Sure, the overall performance of the car was better than a smalle V8 or the V6, but for normal driving conditions, the lesser vehicles would have been fine. I really spent MORE money than I should have...So I'm happy with my 1LT - RS....

The reason why I no longer belong to any of these newer generation "Muscle" or "Pony" or just how about the term "Sport Coupe", clubs is this reason. Every time I went to a meet, it was like a bunch of 12 year old boys talking about how much bigger and better their "manhood" was then the other guys. Bottom line when everything is cut and dried......In their minds, the guys with the V8's and the Manual Transmissions are the coolest guys EVER on the road. At least, to them this is true. Get over it people. So what someone can't drive a stick. Maybe they like an automatic, and maybe what they really fear is that they will also transform into a huge "V8 with a Manual ONLY!" douche-bag!

Grow the "F" Up and let people enjoy what they spend their hard earned money on. Maybe the reason they have what they do is because it's all that they can afford.

If you want an automatic to accelerate faster off the line, try putting your left foot firmly on the brake and then bring up the RPM's with your right foot just prior to launch (where you obviously mash the gas and release the brake). I don't have an automatic and don't know the stall speed of the stock torque converter, so I don't know what RPM you should use - you'll have to experiment.

Not sure about this either, but I think some people have had luck at lower RPMs, maybe 1200 or so

I think if you visit the v6 bolt-on section you will find that a new ported throttle body by VMax is supposed to eliminate the 'lag' you feel.

Yeah...and it will only downshift when you come to a full stop!

Your RPMs are likely up a little already.

Not true. Will downshift as you are slowing.
