1 to 4 Shift BS
What is this... like really.
It pisses me off when i'm trying to get into 2nd and realize that I can't because I have this stupid lockout mechanism because it assumes I want to save gas, and skip 3 rows of gears... it's bs. It always catches me unaware because with my HUD, I'm rarely looking at the instrument cluster, which is the only area the car desides to tell you that you can't shift into anything else other than 4th gear... not to mention by the time i realize it and shift, i'm starting to bog the car. wtf.... anyway, how do we disable this thing? I love everything else with my car, but damn... this is the most stupid invention EVER. Rabbit's foots are more useful, or the pet rock, or the "jump to conclusions" mat. any helpful tips would be appreciated. /rant. |

You can tune it out, but you lose your warranty, or you can get a ship shift eliminator for about $20.00. With the Skip shift eliminator, you still get the message on the DIC but you can shift into any gear you want. The skip shift eliminator just plugs into your trans harness and your golden. Takes 5 minutes to install.

I experienced that same frustration frequently. Search Skip shift eliminator. Numerous companies sell this item. I got mine at Apex Motorsports, great people, great customer service. Piece of cake to install. The skip shift warning still comes up in the driver information screen, but you go right into 2nd gear, no problems. If you want to go to 4th, you can do that, too. But now it will be on your terms, not the car's

The Skip Shift Eliminator will solve this problem. You will still get the 1-4 message on the DIC, but you will no longer be forced to shift from 1st to 4th.
You know what, I'm in a good mood today so I'll hook a brother up. I have an extra one lying around to pay it forward. PM me a shipping address and I'll send you my extra for just the cost of shipping, which we can work out through PM. |

Skip Shift Eliminator. Super easy to install. Took longer to jack up the car than to install it.

I had the same issue. But you will eventually get used to it. Give it a little gas and will eliminate itself.

Exactly, in 13K miles, I may have had it engage maybe twice. Use the skinny pedal on the right lol.

Yeah the logic behind skipping from 1st to 4th is just non-existent. It actually wastes more gas than is saves because the car bogs down and struggles so much. If it HAD to be there, why was it not set as 1st to 3rd? That's what I end up doing most of the time anyway when it pops up. As far as just hitting the gas to skip it, doesn't work with cars in front of you. The worst are the left turn lane U turn people that almost come to a stop.
Anyway, just venting ....long overdue for my skip shift eliminator. |
