Really? NHTSA will tell you all you need to know: http://www.nhtsa.gov

Think about it: do you really think an automaker or dealership is going to allow you to refuse a recall that addresses a safety issue that could create a situation that could hurt or kill you, exposing them to litigation? Use some common sense.

My background? Former dealership service manager. Don't take my word for it; go do some research.

First of all I'm not even surprised that this happened because 2years ago it happened to me! and if you guys looked at the Issues and Warranty thread a lot of members are complaining about this. I bet the other people who have issues with the car limping and saying engine power low has the same issue.

I hate dealing with my dealer about this before it was dreadful goodthing there was a service rep here in c5 that called me and talked to my dealer about it. and so should I take my car back to my dealer?

Its starting to really get ridiculous..... You can't foolproof everything, there are always going to be fools that screw things up. Then we all have to suffer for it.

I like the key the way it is, I have had the separate key remote on my last four cars and the remote bangs against the dash. Very annoying.

Well your engine power would be zero if it turned off so I guess thats greatly reduced

+1
3 of half a million cars have this issue when it can easily be blamed on driver error. I like my key and 2 keys seems like a haste.
Btw I'm new to cars, do I have to take it in for a recall and will this make my current keys useless.

While my Camaro has been at the dealership, I've had a 2014 Silverado as a loaner. It has the separate key and Fob that a couple other members posted pictures of. First of all, the Fob looks like it was made by Fisher Price. Second, I went out and started the truck and was able turn it off by bumping it with my knee. Granted, it was pretty far from where I normally have my knee, but it still was possible. So swapping it out for something similar in the Camaro won't solve anything.
