e85 tune

I've recently become interested in the e85 now that we finally have a station near that carries it.

What are some gains to expect? And are there any risks while running it for a long period or switching back and forth? Any help would be greatly appreciated. I just don't see many people running it so figured I would ask everyone.

You'll probably see another 15-20 hp and a little less torque.

No one will be able to tell you the long term effects just because no one has run it long enough to see what would be the effects. There are a lot of people who believe that if e85 is run enough, it will dry out fuel components since they are made to handle e85.

Everyone that has ran it has said that they had a noticable power increase, and as you can see on the LLT DYNO thread, E85 tuned cars take some of the top spots.

However, I don't believe they ever figured out how to get the tune working properly in cooler or cold weather, and the start ups because very rough. In warmer weather, I think the cars ran fine.

As for long term effects....not too sure. I kind of feel like it would probably be OK as long as the tune is spot on, but I can't say that for sure so please don't just assume it is.

Was it a good investment? A big enough power gain to be noticeable?

I've heard it causes bad knocking during the winter and things that have been stated. But for $100 dollars I figured from what I've read it's well worth it. Especially when it costs like 40 cents cheaper than pump gas.

When it reaches below like 40 degrees is when it has a very slow start up/ rough I you want to call it that and when it warms up its perfectly fine so recommend o be used when its warm out

I think it was bmorecam who discovered the seals for the injectors will breakdown in time.

Yes its cheaper but it also takes about 30% more ethanol to achieve what gas can so technically, its about the same

I don't remember anyone discovering that, and I followed it pretty closely. I only remember him having cold start issues....but I could be wrong.

I wouldn't be running it 24/7. Just for the $100 I think it's something to have for whenever I wanted to play around some. I also plan on getting the ported intake manifold but not sure if the full porting on top of the stage 3 is worth that much more?
