What is the "practical" step after the Camaro?
I'm likely not going to get rid of the Camaro any time soon, but I've at least recently started thinking/considering the options outside of the Camaro and came to one conclusion: anything in or below the cost of my LS Camaro on the market currently sucks haha
We have an 8 month old baby. My wife drives a Honda Pilot (really awesome family car IMO) and the Camaro. I pick up the kiddo from daycare every day in the Camaro. Throw the car seat in the back with a base no problem and yesterday hit the mall afterwards and fit our full sized Graco stroller in the trunk. So really I don't NEED to change anything right now. The only considerations really are 1) I've had no real problems or worries in the winter yet, especially with my winter tires. But it becomes a bigger consideration when I'm thinking of driving around my child. and 2) eventually we may have another child and then I just couldn't swing it. What is out there that looks good, has 300hp, and is in a reasonable price range? Does that even exist?

The only thing I've been able to come up with is a used Pontiac G8. I had a G6 before this. The G8 is pretty much what I'm talking about. Nice interior, good looking car, good power...

Pontiac G8 is simply awesome -- and I would agree that's a practical next step from the Camaro. That or a Trailblazer SS. I'm a GM employee, so my only considerations would be other GM products as a personal preference. Depending on if I could afford it, I'd love to pick up a used Chevrolet SS in 4-5 years once the price goes down a bit.
Considering your criteria (multiple kids and safety in snow), I would say an AWD TBSS would be your best consideration. They can be had used in very clean condition for the 15-16k range here in Michigan.

I would love an AWD car. The get up and go of an suv/truck with the styling of a car. I dig that. There aren't enough of those options.
That had me thinking about the AWD Charger but I think it looks kinda dumb. Like a dopey bottle-nosed dolphin on the front haha

The GTOs are sweet but not really any more "practical" than what I've got.

G8 is one incredible car. My G8 handled better than my Camaro SS. True sports car - just four door. Extremely roomy inside. Great features. Big trunk. Very comfortable on long drives. A lot of fun.
One of my all time favorites. Just no convertible model available. Coming back as Chevy SS. |
