Their customer service blows, and both the on-air product AND the service have gotten worse since the XM-Sirius merger. Imagine that...lack of competition leading to a decline in quality! Who would've guessed?

Hey, it's your choice to drive the car or not.

Maybe Sirius/XM should discount us for all the time we're not in our car listening to the radio?

It's like any other fee based service, take cable tv for instance. Do you call the cable company and tell them to not bill you because you are going on vacation for 2 weeks?

I had a similar experience. I took delivery in January (the SM radio was already activated). So, I called XM to ask if I could delay my free trial until April 1 when I'd start driving the car. They said that would be no problem and to just call them April 1 to start my free trial.

When I called on April 1 to start my 3 mo. free trial, XM said my free trial was over and I had to pay to turn the radio on. I explained the arrangement and they said I had to agree to a full year of service at full price and then they'd give me my free trial. I hung up and told XM I'd never do business with them again.

It's really too bad. XM could be a great service that many of us would use because I actually liked using it when I got the free trial in my truck. But their customer service is so bad that it turns many people off to XM, including myself. That company is scum and they will never get a penny of my money.

You should get a 12 month subscription of Sirius with a ZL1. Look at your window sticker. I went round and round with my dealer and Sirius after they canceled my subscription at 3 months. I actually paid for 6 months since I enjoy the service, but Brandon (One of the Customer Service reps who monitor this site) stepped in and got it resolved with them giving me my additonal 9 months. There are posts about this problem on the forum.

It's just a shame that you have to argue with them to get what they promised you would get.

NEVER give them your credit card number. I've heard horror stories about that.

You should have a free trial period of 12 months as stated above.

2013's DO NOT get 12 months . . . 2012's did . . first . .

And ALL trials start the day you buy the car . .

So you going to bitch about the On Star trial too?

I agree with Razor . . . that bank makes you pay for it when you don't drive it.

You've obviously never had the "pleasure" of dealing with them. A car payment is completely different. They can turn the XM off until he's ready to take the car out of storage and then restart the free trial.

I tried to keep my subscription at the same price they were offering me for other vehicles. They claimed mine didn't qualify for that. So. I told them to cancel it. They kept giving me the run around and I kept telling them to cancel. All of a sudden, I qualified for the discounted rate. I didn't accept due to the way they handled the situation. Now, I constantly get mail and email offering the $25 for six months.

If they had told me that "all trials start the day you buy the car" when I called them, then I would have accepted that. However, when I called customer service, they said it would be fine to delay turning on the free trial for a couple of months. When I called back like they told me, they refused to give me my free trial. The point is that they didn't do what they said they'd do. I've heard this repeatedly from other Chevy owners.

I'd be happy to get a radio subscription from them if I felt that the XM company could be trusted. But I don't.
