You could always get the GM extended warranty for GM Employee pricing....then you don't have to worry about high mark ups or Finance Department profits.

You have to ask yourself how long are you planning to own the car and drive it (weekend car, show car, or daily driver) if you plan to make it a show car, or weekend driver I would opt not to buy the extended warranty. If you use your Camaro as a daily driver and plan to keep the car past the 3 years and you figure you will put over 12k on the car a year I would opt for the extended warranty (except on the LS, and 1LT w/out the RS package). I purchased a 2LT/RS Camaro as my daily driver I will keep it for many years as and put on 15k per year on miles my reasons are simple (daily driver, 1st year car, plenty of electronics on the car) from past experiences I have had a power seat motor go out on every car I have owned the average cost to have this replaced as been just over $1000 my extended 6yr/100k warranty from a very friendly dealership on this site was $1200 so I paid for it out of pocket and did not finance it via my dealership. Now I can opt to cancel the extended warranty up to 35,999 miles and get a full refund if I trade in the car or it was in an accident after 36,000 miles GM will prorate the warranty.

The extended warranty is a gamble you are betting that something will fail on the car after 36k and you need to determine how much it will cost to fix it for myself a power driver seat motor or a halo headlight will more than pay for the extended warranty if something happens to them. Yes I also opted for the rim & tire warranty and I have already used the tire warranty I ran over a nail in my work parking lot took the car to my local GM dealership they had a new tire for me w/in a few hours.

If do decided to get an extended warranty Shop around contact Camaro Scotty (this Is where I picked up mine) unless you do not have the cash and need to finance it w/ your loan.

Good luck
Sean

I didn't know that - Craig doesn't tell me much on who gets one, but it's nice to know people are taking advantage of the deal....it's at a minimum profit to us, but we do it because we want to help people out here.

Another thing I would mention, stick with GM's extended warranty....those TV ad ones just don't seem to cover some things, and you find out when it's too late. My nephew got burned with one of those!

I am so Pissed Off Right Now.

I ordered some Craftsman Deep Well Sockets from Sears today and when i went to pick them up I was pulling in to their Pick Up Area and Scraped my Front Wheel on the pull in curb so right now I have about a 2 In Scrape Mark on my Wheel.

When i purchased the warranty the Finance guy told me that it would protect me if i were to hit something and my wheel would get damaged, The Extended Warranty would cover the cost of either repairing my wheel or replacement of it.

Does this count as hitting something and Damaging my Wheel?

Can i get my wheel fixed under the warranty?
I'm going to call them in the morning and see what they say about it.

I Might have to say that I hit a Large Rock (or Chunk of a Cinder Block) in the road while Driving or something like that.

What are your Thoughts or Suggestions on this?

CamaroScotty,... Sending you a P.M. now about a question I have....

Incorrect......bumper to bumper is 3yr/36000 miles. Your 5yr/100,000 is powertrain only!!!! motor, trans, fuel system and front/wheel drive system...I have worked at a dealership for over 4 years and let me tell GM EXT WAR is pretty good....GM offers a GMPP WARRANTY and if you get it from lithia you can also purchase a FESC WARRANTY

Just remember the dealership is GM'S eyes now since the camaro has been on the road for a while......The camaro's we get in now do not need a GM REP to give us the ok..Its fix on the spot now

I look at the extended warranty as an insurance policy. Odds are that you probably won't need to make a claim, but if something expensive breaks, you'll wish you had it. There's many factors to consider when deciding to purchase one or not such as how long you'll keep the car, how often you'll drive, if you're going to modify the car in a way that might void the warranty, if you have time and the tools to repair the car yourself, etc. If you're considering buying one, definitely shop around. I bought mine from Craig through Camaro Scotty and they saved me $1000.00 over what the dealer I bought my Camaro from wanted to charge.

I just canceled mine today with only 1200 miles on the car.. I never buy extended warranties but fell victim to the whole excitement of the purchase. I had to call them at least 4 times to get the finance manager on the phone to do this and then drive there and present my original warranty document. I regret adding it as it turned out the warranty was something supplied by a local insurance company that upon reading carefully didn't net me much over the standard GM warranty. The balance will be credited back to the loan but won't lower payments any. Don't feel bad if you are having buyers remorse, you have the right to cancel it anytime.... however the sooner the better..

NO, the Rev limiter is not set to 118MPH... and YES, driving in this manner does affect MPG...

I never purchase extended warranty's on anything. I started doing this 30 years ago. Thinking about everything that I've purchased over the years, Refrigerators, Dishwashers, Washer, Dryers, Electronics, Houses... seems like everyone offers them. I have been lucky over the years... I take care of my purchases. The money that I have saved over the years by not buying into extented warranty's I could easily buy another Camaro

I Totally Agree with this.

We all hope that we Never Need to or Have to have our vehicle serviced but if something does go down on my Camaro which I do plan on keeping for a long while (I hope to pay it off one day.) Another thing that makes me a little different than some of you is that I'm disabled so I'm not able to fix or repair something on my car as easily as some of you may be able to.

Hell I still have an AirAid CAI that I need to install in to my Car but I havent for the simple fact is that I've had 4 Back Surgeries and 2 Back Fusions and a Neck Fusion so I'm not able to Bend over and Install something like that as easy as I once would have been able to, So I have to wait for almost a Perfect day and timing so that I can have help probably in doing the install.

I'm Not Mad that I bought the Extended Warranty,... I am Mad at the Fact that I could have bought it Cheaper than What I Did Buy it for.

I have a P.M. in to CamaroScotty which I'm waiting for his reply to it before I take any Actions towards the one that I did buy and I hope he responds soon to my P.M.

I hope that I never have to use the Extended Warranty but if the day comes where I need it,... I'm going to be Pretty Happy that I do have it.

Extended warranties are a suckers bet, and don't even get me started on aftermarket warranties...not worth the paper they are printed on. If you are not finacially set to take a repair hit in the 3-5 year period after purchase, then you should consider the warranty, but you should really reconsider whether you can afford the car.

I understand some people feelings about extended warranty not needed if you have the cash. But for some people an extended warranty maybe needed if the person wants to keep the car for up to 7 years stock. I understand the 3year/36,000 bumper-to-bumper is great for a new car. But here is the million dollar question.

What extended warranty will give us 2010 Camaro owners as near coverage as the factory (3year/36,000 bumper-to-bumper) to include wear and tear coverage to cover repairs outside of the powertrain 100,000 mile warranty. Of course, it would have to be a company that maybe in business 5-7 years down the road.
Can GM provide a plan/coverage that satisfies wear and tear coverage to cover repairs outside of the powertrain 100,000 mile warranty, since we think GM will be in business for the next 5-7 years.
(I want to keep my car stock) and (for as long as possible). Any professional advise will be appreciated.

I agree. I wasn't going to buy it but the dealer just kept coming down in price. Finally I did it. Even if I mod the car everything else is still covered.

Well....I think I'm going to go with the extended warranty. The dealer is able to get me a lower rate if I buy it. If I factor in the difference in financing I'm going to get a 5yr/50k for about $500. My payment is only going to increase about $8 a month. I've done a bunch of rate shopping over the last several days. This is going to be the best rate (66 mths @ 3.59%).

It's going to be more of a piece of mind. Hopefully I'll never use it. On my Impala I had a seat heater go out in about the 4th year of the car. Warranty was out after 3yrs. They wanted $600 to fix it. Needless to say....4 years after it went out I still have no heated seat.

If you buy a warranty from GM you can finance the whole amount seperately at 0% for up to 24 months. It may save some money by not adding it into the loan depending on your interest rate.
