Definitely don't dump the clutch with drag radials. With all of our track testing we have tried various launch methods in an effort to keep components alive. We have to abuse the car frequently to adequately test our products and driveline components end up paying the price for it. We have a graveyard of broken parts to show for it too. A 4k clutch dump sheared an axle shaft so now we have 300M axles in the car. The next time out at the drag strip we got 3 passes on the car, leaving a little harder each time but on the 4th pass, a relatively mild 3500 rpm launch sheared the output shaft off on the transmission. People are having driveshaft failures, sheared bolts, etc.
The best launch technique is to slightly slip the clutch. It takes practice to make your launches consistent and it's hard on the clutch but it's also the healthiest for your driveline.

I guess if your going to break an axle we got lucky with a clean shear. Yours looks like it made a mess underneath your car!
