I don't know how anybody gets 29-30 mpg on the highway. I've tried resetting the fuel economy button once I am already at hw speed and it still doesn't go over 28 mpg and drops very quickly once I step on the accelerator. I live in a fairly populated suburban area and do about 70% hw/30% local driving breakdown. I can't seem to get the combo over 21.6 no matter what I do. So I've stopped worrying about it. It's not about the gas expense as much as it's just an egotistical thing. If others can do it, why can't I? If I start fretting about it, my next car will be a Volt or a Leaf.

Going from my TBSS to the SS was like going from a Hummer to a Prius. I was getting around 12 with the TBSS city driving. 19.1 with the SS same city driving.

We just ordered a 1LE and sold our 2001 WS-6 to get it. I could get an average of about 20 MPG combo with the WS-6, and expect to get the same or better with the 1LE. Do I need to get 40 mpg, nope, but I damn sure would not accept 14 out of a V6. Who buys a Camaro and does not care at all about mileage? Someone who is racing the car, or has a boat load more money than I do!

PS: Our 1969 big block Camaro gets about 1/4 mile per gallon of 108 octane gas...who cares....its a race car....not a street car!

I've had my V6 14 months of daily driver 11 miles each way, and my average has been 17mpg since the beginning.

I have not had enough time off work to drive more than 20 consecutive miles yet, but that day I reset the computer and drove 55-75 all the way and got 26.5mpg. It was excruciatingly painful to keep it under 75 when freeway flow is often 80+ out here.

I an driving from San Jose to Boise this summer to see the grandkids and will see what I can get for the 3 hours through Oregon at 55mph limit with cruise on.

Sounds like there is something wrong with your car if it is getting that kind of gas mileage, especially since it IS a V6. Good luck to ya.
Might want to try your luck with MPG in Jersey rush hour traffic twice a day. Keep in mind that during the 'stop' part of stop and go your instantaneous MPG is exactly zero, and you'll see a lot of those and almost zeroes. Might also try installing 22's to see if that matters any as well.

Mid-teens MPG sounds about right for a 300-ish HP engine under those conditions. Pure highway driving in off-peak hours - mid-20's MPG ought to be possible without too much work.

Same here. I bought my SS as a weekend play toy and have never even looked at my MPG. Don't know, don't care. OP, enjoy your new car.

I live in Peekskill, NY and my commute is a very good diversity of driving, city, mountains, interstate. About a 20 mile trip one way. My 2012 Camaro LS/RS avgs about 21.5mpg regularly. When I do long trips on the interstate I easily can reach over 30mpg. I love the v6 because it gets pretty damn decent gas mileage. And it has the hp to let me pass anyone I want when I want.

Sounds like some sort of teen small peen logic to me.

Let go of the 70s, 80s, 90s!! You should be more worried about current comparison...like the current V6 Mustang, which, with the track pack, blows the doors off the Camaro V6.

So how'd it get so real? Power -- and a lot of it. With a 3.7-liter, 24-valve V-6, the Mustang puts out a lofty 305 horsepower and 280 lb-ft, or 138 more horses and twice the torque compared to a Miata. We're talking about a 13-second car capable of a 100-mph trap speed that starts at under $23,000. But equally vital to its objective dominance are the Mustang's super-sticky Pirelli summer tires, part of the optional $1995 performance package that also adds a 3.31 rear axle and handsome 19-inch alloys.

What relevance does this comment even have to the OP's post?

Isn't that why the Z/28 is gonna be 100 lbs lighter? To increase the MPG?

I would have bought the Prius if it looked like the Camaro. I bought it for the looks, and then got a V6 because I got better millage, and still can do 150 if I want to.
