Speed Fever

Well once again the speed fever has struck. Contemplating putting a 100-150 wet shot on my stock bottom end 12 camaro ss. I kinda like the idea of running around on street tune big cam and than spraying at the track (which is hardly ever lol). So where are my NOS guys at? Only bad thing is i would have to probably change my rear end ratio back . Any info you NOS guys would like to share? Any stock bottom end guys spraying? Any pointers?

I used a 150 shot before I put on the turbo. I don't see a need to change the rear back since you shouldn't spray before 3k. Biggest issue is getting fuel to it if your engine is modded already. Stock fuel pump is only good for about 500whp. A lot of guys run a dedicated fuel cell for the nitrous, including me.

I did a dry 150 shot on a full bolt on LS3..... not worth it. Save the money for a FI system full bolt ons and the dry shot only got me 560rwhp on a mustang dyno, having to refill tanks sucks and they never last long enough.

Well I'm at 470 so 560 would cure my fever, lol. What made you choose dry over wet? Did you keep your stock fuel system or dedicated fuel tank?

Out of that 150 wet shot how much of that did you see at wheels? My rear ratio is 4.10s with tru trac. Did you switch between street tune and nitrous tune?

Never dyno'd on nitrous. Just used an LNC 2000 to pull timing. I did not run it long, but it ran some low to mid 12s on the 150 shot.

Unless you are a lot different than most of the guys on here, 90 whp is not going to cure your sickness, but no harm in trying.

I did not drop a ton of cash into my kit to start. I started with a unit I pulled off my mud truck, then I got a used Nano. Also used a WOT/window switch and LNC2000. If you go out and buy all that stuff new, you are getting pretty close to half way to a decent turbo kit.

Well said!

Initial extra HP can come fairly cheap per se but as you creep up the HP curve every substantial gain along with necessary drive train, exhaust, suspension, engine, etc., changes . . . well, you get the point.

No telling how much money I could have saved over the long haul if I knew from the beginning what I wanted. Scary to think about it, lol.

Good luck on whatever you decide but my bet is that someday you will be unwind the nitrous change and go with some sort of FI that won't require a bottle

Nitrous outlet plate, dedicated fuel, progressive, LNC2000 and all the extras. Stock, except for some bolt ons. N.O. kits are rated at wheel hp. I'll run a 100 to 150 shot, depending on temperature. Never made it back to the track after getting all the N2O stuff added. You can pull fuel off the rail at the Schrader fitting. But you'll be lucky if you can maintain fuel pressure. Progressive gives options, % start, rise time, gear lockout, build or reset for each gear. Pull timing with the LNC2000 and use colder non-projected plugs. If not pulling timing, you may not get knock/detonation, but you'll beat up the rod bearings. Should be ok on ring gap on that shot level, unless your doing long runs. Even with a progressive, N2O hits hard, traction will be an issue. Adding a GPI SS3 cam in a month or 2. Have everything except 1 backordered item.
