If one were to google "2nd gen Camaro convertible":

http://www.kellerconsulting.com/Camaro/

2nd Generation Camaro Convertibles
The second generation Camaro's covered the years from 1970 through 1981. Second generation Camaro Convertibles are very rare since they were custom built by National Coach Engineering, in Port Schenlic Michigan (a.k.a. American Convertible Corporation), when the cars were new. There were no factory convertibles built during this period of production. There were about 400 Camaros converted to convertibles (according to information I was given) from 1979-1980...

EDIT: Seems that National Coach Engineering LTD. went out of business in '97 (they were making limo's then).

From Wikipedia:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Coach_convertible

Known companies that did 2nd gen "coach convertible" conversions:

Chevrolet Camaro (2nd Gen) National Coach Engineering (1979–1981), Steas Industries (1980–1981), Elan (Carizma, 1980–1981), Munich Motor Works (1981), American Clout (NCE, 1980–1981), Con-Tec (1981), American Conv Corp (NCE, 1980–1981), A.H.A. Manufacturing (Pony, 1980–1981)

Probably none still in business.

I used to own a 73 that was a custom convertible with a removable hardtop. My friend owns it now.

Honestly if you plan on selling it ever, you will greatly reduce the value. 72 split bumper is a relatively prized car, I would at least pick up a late 2nd gen if you were set on making one a convertible.

That is one nice Camaro glad you did not chop the top. Looks great standing still.

The Stoning of Soraya M., based on a true story of a woman who was stoned by her husband (and other villagers including her own children) when he falsely accused her of adultery to get what he wanted with his new and very young wife. I believe the father is the one who drove it:

1978 Trans am convertible

Better to chop the top on a later model 2nd gen fbody. Even a 1978 trans am is still just a pretty looking slow car. Why not chop it. I have just finished the interior and gonna keep it a California convertible, no top...

1978 Trans Am topless

Got the motor looking pretty but that big smog/air pump defeats the purpose of a big block 403. Those of you with the earlier 2nd Gens do not cut the top.. Like stated before it is ok to chop a late model 2nd gen as the do not provide the performance needed, well not in California. Still gotta love all 1st and 2nd generation fbodys.
