ZL1>Z/28.
Do you really want a car with no radio or a/c?

As much as I liked the Z28 for the first few seconds I saw it you are absolutely correct. Do you really want to be sitting there in your new sports car with no radio no A/C and get beat badly by a CTS-V next to you with his A/C on, 4 people sitting comfortable in the car?
Kinda crazy if you think about it. Plus, stock for stock a ZL1 should be faster.

I think if you modify the SS eventually you will hit your limit, if you start with a ZL1 you have almost everything you need and if you want to it has plenty of room for increasing the HP even more. Not to mention the suspension system, the beefed up driveline and cooling, steering etc.

After the Z/28's are released, there will be plenty of traded in zl1's, so I may wait it out for a few. The only down side, is that the lower value of the z's will trickle down to my SS. It may be a wash...
I could not own a Z28. I drive way too much and enjoy the whole car, not just the exhaust note. I've not been to the track yet, so I don't think I would drop $60k plus, just for that. I will let it play out this spring, and see what bites me!

It has one speaker and A/C is optional, not omitted.
It runs 3 seconds faster lap times that the ZL1 without the traction gadgets of the ZL1. Just imagine the things u can do to that LS7....... I will keep my SS though, my goal is to have ZL1 drivers scratching their head when I pull away from them lol

I traded my 05' gto w/402 tsp
Built stroker for a 13' zl1. It was making 505/463 at the wheels and had 3.91 gears so at first it felt slower than my goat but I also followed the break in procedure with this car. Once the 1500 miles came and I got to play I couldn't tell a big difference. I missed the lopey cam for a while but after a few mild mods to the zl1 I love it...plus I have goodies just sitting in my garage waiting to go on lol. My wife's 12' SS feels sluggish after I've driven mine ;-) |

Plus, I drive both my wife's 12 SS and my 13' ZL1, even if you throw a blower on an SS I still don't think the overall fun factor and appeal is there. She likes the color of hers but she's always wanting to go out of town and make trips in mine, more comfy plus the quiet exhaust at startup and whining is nice. Even at wot it's not as loud I don't think as a stock ss. Idk, they're both nice cars

If i had that decision I would personally Mod the SS.
I have a 2011 SS also, changed a bunch of body mods so it looks like no other camaro on the road. Then Dropped the SLP TVS2300 on it. Mine is sitting right now faster than a stock ZL1. HP wise, the ZL1 would probably destroy me on a road course however. I dont know how you are, but if i bought a ZL1 it wouldnt be very long before i started sinking money into it HP wise and looks, so i have a perfect base with the Stage 1 kit, and ill go up to stage 3 Kit and have close to 750HP with my 11 SS.

No bashing at all but at some point the internals won't be able to handle the hp or boost. I got a great deal on a new zl1 so I pulled the trigger and did it. It's night and day driving the two cars, handling, performance etc.

FYI I took down a stock ZL1 last week, twice and if my stock internals don't hold up then it's time for this.

Buy a used ZL1. Spend $7k for mods and run 10's in the 1/4 and embarrass a lot of cars on a road course.
