Thermostat change instructions?

Anybody got a link or walkthrough of just what is needed when changing out the ZL1 thermostat? I know it is pretty easy, just want any helpful hints available. Thanks in advance.

If you can, pinch off the radiator hoses and then it's justill 2 bolt holding on the housing. Pull the housing off and theirs the thermostat. Place the new on in the same way the old one comes out and then put the housing back with the 2 bolts and unclamp the hoses. Yours still going to losing what ever is in the block so place rags down under the housing area or put car in the air and remove the belly pan

leave the radiator hose attached to the housing and use a 10mm socket to remove the retaining bolts. Remove old thermostat and replace with new unit. Make sure to align the notch on the gasket with the housing notch. Tighten the housing evenly and don't over torque the bolts.

You have to put a new gasket on? I was told there was a rubber O ring on the T housing and it does not need to be replaced. Correct?

gasket is a O-ring rubber seal that is around the thermostat and not on the housing

I don't know how much you'll lose. I ended up draining all of it and then someone gave me that clamp off the hoses idea. Sorry

It doesn't seem it is worth doing to be honest. Just my opinion. If somone can break down why it is worth doing I'm all ears.

Use the search button, or google. Don't change to 160 TStat this is myth and it is busted more wear in long run.

Thanks for the replies. I had a lingenfelter 630 package installed which included a 160 thermostat. I believe the thermostat has gone bad, so I am just replacing it with what was already installed at my local speed shop.

No one has ever PROVED more wear. It's all just opinion from what I've seen.
