Easy. It keeps everything running cooler in a car that generates a lot of heat (and heat is the enemy in a supercharged engine).

Stock it probably doesn't benefit from this. With higher boost generating more under hood heat, I can see this being beneficial.

stock Z/28 thermostat is a 70°C or 158°F unit...confirmed and installed by GM.
