Thumbs up Woodgrain interior pieces...

I've always loved woodgrain for some reason, and I decided the interior in the 1SS was too blah, and needed something.

I thought that a burlwood pattern would look nice, and maybe be a little "retro". I bought another complete set of interior pieces from a 1SS, stripped the cloth, base coated, and applied the burlwood pattern via Hydrographics, or water transfer printing. For my first attempt at this I am extremely pleased.

Tonight I will clear coat, and hopefully if time allows I can install them this weekend.

I think you did a great job on them, very professional. I'd like to see pics once they're installed.

Whoa, awesome! I've been itching to do my own painting on my 1LT panels. After removing the cloth, does it leave some kind of glue residue?

Yeah, looks like they just use that 3M Super 77 adhesive, comes right off with 3M adhesive remover.

Looks great! I didn't know you could do hydrographics as a DIY. Time to investigate!

That's awesome. Just note if you are going to fasten the door insert panels back on with screws to be careful they don't come out the other side. That happened to me on my 1SS when I installed the silver painted panel kit. Fortunatly only one screw went through too far and I was able to hide the minor mistake.

Looks great. There was a Camaro with T-tops at SEMA that had wood grain for the doors, pieces across the dash, dash and console. Looked good to me. Can't wait to see how yours turn out.

Are you guys serious?
Don't get me wrong I'm all for creativity and new product development.
But seriously?
Wood grain in a camaro?
That goes together about as well as oil and water.
Wood grain, at the least tries to exude luxury, which the camaro is not.
I'm sorry, the workmanship is great those pieces would look good in my moms 300, but not in a muscle car.
