Angry Wow, I got laid off

Friday afternoon,I'm still in shock. I guess if your the highest paid employee in a small company these days your a target. All the lower salary guys where asked to take pay cuts. Meanwhile the owner lives in a huge new home on the Intracoastal with his Big boat docked in the backyard. Greed is not good. 6 years of excellent effort and work and this is how I'm thanked 2 weeks before Christmas.

Sir, I don't know what to tell you that's going to be of any comfort. But there is an old saying, "When one door closes, another door opens." Best of luck to you, and I hope you're still able to have as Merry a Christmas as possible.

Sorry to hear that bro, especially during the holidays. Loyalty is a rare thing in business these days. It's better for their bottom line to keep 4 people at $9/hr working part time rather than 1 person making 30/hr with benefits. That doesn't make it fair but unfortunately that's how things have become. Keep your head up and good luck. Like the guy above said, with every door that closes another opens. Hope you and your family have a Merry X-Mas regardless of this. *Clark Griswald would*

It $uck$! I got the corporate finger not to long ago also. You work your a$$ off and think it is appreciated and then they remind you that everyone is expendable. I'm taking advantage of the time away from work to finish off my degree and look for a better job. I hope you will be ok. Just know that you're not alone and that this will give you an opportunity to reinvent yourself and reboot your life. I wish you the best of luck.

I am truly sorry for your loss jdanza.

I spent years climbing the corporate ladder only to find out that it was leaning against the wrong wall.

Today I am still climbing the ladder but this time I made sure I OWNED the wall!!

I am unemployable now. Been my own boss for over 7 years and love it!

SScattergunSS is right, as one door closes another opens

Good luck on your next journey!

We are all rooting for you!

Been there, in 98 same thing,$125 k job gone because of corporate buy out. now i make half, but at least it is simi secure. Best of luck, remember you may have to lower your expectations and salary requirements. The bright side is it gives you more time to enjoy life with your Camaro!!

I feel for ya Man, since I was laid off back in April the job market here has really gotten bad, but I have heard of a few that have found new jobs lately, so things are starting to improve... I kind of slacked off some looking and I am going to hit it hard starting the first of the year.. Good luck to you in Your Job quest.

As others have said it's all about the bottom line now.. people don't matter only money.. I had 32 years invested where I worked... and they threw me out like a bag of trash. (forced into retirement). didn't even get invited back to the retiree Christmas party.. none of us that got the boot did.. now that's gratitiude for Ya...

You worried about a reference, dude? If not, I'd show that bastard a piece of my mind. My boss is pretty damn greedy too, the difference is, I'm not paid nearly as much as I should be and I have rooted myself so deep into the day to day operation of this place that if they do lose me, they're f*ed.
