The dealerships that will be closed will be on their own to announce it in their own timeframe and on their own terms. GM will not publicly post a list of dealerships being closed. Afterall, these dealerships have close ties to the communities they are in and should have the right and responsibilty to announce their closing how they want to. If you are worried about your dealership closing, call them and ask.

That should give you guys/gals that have your order in, plenty of time to take delivery....no?

LabRat
yes, and this has been reported but half the people are ignoring it.

lets repeat this, if you have a preordered camaro within your dealers initial allocation you shouldnt be too worried about getting your car.

Exclamation Anyone heard this? Dealers handed Yellow and Red Slips?

Just talked to a sales manager @ a local dealer and was told that yesterday GM handed out Yellow and Red slips to dealers across the country which indicate one of two things:

Yellow Slip: They are basically on notice and need to prove they are worth keeping around

Red Slip: The dealer will no longer get cars and will be closed.

I was told that my dealer was given a Red Slip. My order is into GM so I am not worried, not to mention this sounds a bit odd because I read new articles that stated GM couldnt close dealerships without negotiating with each one separatley [unless they were in bankrupcy protection which they are not right now].

So whats the deal?

After reading this article is seems true:
http://money.cnn.com/2009/05/14/news...ion=2009051416

Sucks, because my dealer has been in town for 60 years. Plus the Pontiac dealer down the street closed about 4 years ago and hasnt been occupied since. Just not good for our local economy at all. Not to mention, I really love the people at my dealer,,,, good folks.

The Dealership agreements for the dealers on the hit list will not expire until October 2010. They can be GM dealers until then. They can close before then if it's in their best interest.

Just look in the general automotive forum it's been covered to death.

They sent out letters via Fedex so the actual slip thing prob is true.

Hawthorne Chevrolet in Hawthorne NJ had their Camaro allocation increased to 23 from 19. Still some slots left if you want one at MSRP. Ask for Stan!
