I will admit that it is nice to be able to see a plate when you meet it for several reasons, but I dont see it necessary. But if you buy a car from a dealer here, they have to sell it with the plate bracket on the car. So I guess my Camaro will have a front plate on it.

Hi Noucantdriveit, always good to hear from another County Maine-iac.

I got the cop picture from Photobucket by searching for police Camaro.

Yes it does suck, its one of those laws that is not really enforced a lot and a lot of people run without front plates, but when it comes to this stuff, Iam reminded that I have to "set the example" :( Which I do understand of course but sometimes it does suck.

Wink

funny I had my thunderbird inspected 2 years in a row with no front plate in NY and they did not even care that it had no front plate. they only cared that it was safe to drive. my dad had his Pacifica inspected in july/august and he passed with no front plate as well .

I've had my Camaro for 3 months and have yet to put the front tag on. Then I've only been in my home state 3 days of that 3 months.

Plus the car is so new that most cops don't pay attention to the tags.

9 times out of 10 he probably can.

They call it "professional courtesy"

Doesn't make them completely immune from infractions though.

Now I wish I could just figure out a way to keep the cops from blowing past my house at 20 over all the time.

I just got one of these: http://****************/products_chev.html

There was no way I was letting anyone drill into my bumper, but at the same time I don't want any extra reason for an officer to pull me over. Here's a picture with the plate installed. I don't think it is too bad (since it IS the law).

Yesterday on the way to the meet in Lake Wenatchee park, WA I got separated from the group and when i was on my way to meet up with them there was a stater parked facing the same way i was heading but i had to stop so i waited hoping he would go, then he turned around and waved for me to go so i took off thinkin he was gonna pull behind me and he didnt he went perppendicular to the road i was traveling on. I've had mine 4 months and have 3500 miles on it, seen many cops and still havent gotten a warning. I will be looking into the ticket though and if it wont effect my insurance I will not put the plate on

In CA the front plate is the law and that means red light cameras and revenue. Have USA 1 tags on the front on my two older Chevys for the last 10 years and no hassle.

Cheap one dollar solution

I mounted my plate using the mount
with 1/4x3" togglebolts through the lower
valance backed up with 3"x3" plastic plates
the contour on the upper edge of the bracket
matches the fascia perfectly
Total cost $1.10
Pictures will follow as soon as the sun comes up
