had vett a few years ago done the same thing the o-rings on the valve stems were the problem, bad batch for gm changed them and no more smoke just saying thanks Pete

I would check the motor as when I had my 418 motor it did the exact same thing and was low on oil when I would check it and once the heads were off it wasnt pretty. Mine was very intermittent too.
