Camaro Clutch Pedal Feel?

Hello,

I was wondering how the Camaro V8 clutch pedal feel compares to cars like the Mustang GT (heavy imo) and the Civic? Thanks!

I hope this doesn't show up twice. I typed everything but my reply didn't show up...

I have driven a manual for over 20 years, and the clutch pedal on my Camaro is much "softer", "springier" than any of the others I have had. I traded in an Infiniti G35 coupe and that pedal was much stiffer than the one in my new Camaro. The gear also engages quicker than it did in any of my others.

I have only driven a Mustang once on a test drive in 1999, and I couldn't get it back in the dealers lot fast enough, I hated it. I bought a TA instead. I have never driven a Civic auto or stick.

Hope this gives you a bit of info that you were looking for, this is all I have for comparisons.

The clutch in the Camaro is a lot softer to push than the '09 Stangs, but has a very small engagement area (I'm sure thats the wrong term, but w/e). Seems to be stiffer than a Civic, but I've only ever driven an '03 Civic, and that was only once for a very short drive.

I agree with firstmate. The Camaro's clutch peddle definitely feels "springy". I can't compare it to the Mustang or Civic (never driven either), but I had a 2007 Subaru Impreza STI before the Camaro and the Camaro's clutch is much "springier" than the STI's. Also, not really what you asked about but I'll throw it in anyway, I think it's worth noting that the actual shifting isn't as much of a workout as I've seen others on here say. I actually think it requires less force from the arm than my STI.

It seemed to me that the engagement area was narrow (like was already said) and that it felt pretty soft too (like was also said). I can say that it is softer than the OEM clutch in my 4Runner and it's softer than OEM clutches in Mustangs from the last generation. I can't tell you how it feels on the street though :(

Thanks guys for the help so far! I guess nothing beats driving one first hand. I've only had the chance to test out an auto SS. I'm interested to hear everyone else's opinions...

I've not driven a manual shift in years. So when I got my 2LT/RS 6 sp manual, I embarrased(sp?) myself a couple of times stalling out. My friend, who drives a manual shift camry, drove my car and said the clutch is extremely soft, but highly responsive.

I had an '03 Mustang and the SS is definitely softer and smoother. I also don't miss the wheel hop when taking off in 1st when hitting a bump with the solid rear axle in the Stang. My wife used to tell me I didn't know how to drive. She wouldn't listen to me.

I have my Camaro 3 days, still getting used to the clutch. Totally different from my Mustang GT . Much lighter with less feel , grabs quicker and at a higher pedal point. Will take some time to adjust from a mechanical to a hydrolic (sp) clutch

Agree with all of the above when comparing to our 2004 GTO. Much softer, more "spring" and less forgiving.

my 2010 camaro only has 3600 miles and the cltuch had on play. took it to the dealer and there is a service bulliten on the camaro. the bolts that hold the pressure plate need to be replaced. also there are problems with the pressure plate there is a new bulliten. I had hard time shifting into gear. also my camaro has a oil consumption problem 1 qt. of oil per 1000 miles. my tail pipes are full of oil and gm said this is ok. they claim that it is ok to use one half qt. per 1000 miles this a crook of bull they refuse to do a compression test. had the same problem with my 2006 vette.

Camaro Clutch Pedal Feel?

The ? after feel is a good discription. There is no feel. It is very hard to determine engagement, seams to vary).

Also, the notch or physical detent I feel from 1st to 2nd makes it impossible to speed shift like I used to do in my CRX.

If any kits for the clutch come out hope someone posts it.
