I have a LS3 with a 6 speed Manual

When I downshift to 2nd gear and slow down I hear a few semi loud pops that seem to come from the exhaust pipes. This usually happens when the engine RPMs go down to 2000 - 1500.

What causes this ? Is it normal ? Has anyone else noticed this ?

I hear the same thing. Happens all the time when I down shift.

Hey Jim! The car is freaking awesome as I am sure you already know. It’s a fulfilled dream car for me. Almost got an SS back in 96 but it was too pricey so I went with a Mustang. Were you at the Festival Flea yesterday? I saw a car that was equipped like yours.

No, I was not me, I have not gone to any shows yet.
My car has been perfect so far, everything seems to work great and the paint as well as the interior is perfect. 1,200 mi so far

It's normal, mine does it even with engine mods, exhaust, and a custom tune

its caused by unburnt fuel dumping into the exhaust. It is normal and more noticeable with aftermarket exhausts. Others are right it is the sound of awesomness lol

No disrespect intended and I'm by no means a certified mechanic, but I would think unburnt fuel dumping in the exhaust is anything but normal. It sounds more like the MAP is not right and you need a tune. I also think if the above statement is true instead of the sound of awesomeness it's the sound of money being burned in fuel costs. IMHO
