They're all VERY good though. Just don't use them if you're driving through a state they're illegal in. Because all of those can be detected by radar detector detectors and will usually be taken away if you're pulled over with one.

If you're investigating suspicious activity, then that's one thing. You're on duty doing your job, (not what I'm talking about...) I'm talking about flying down the road all for a bucket of extra crispy chicken.

Look, whatever man. We all know how things go...

I'm leaning towards Valentine but I like the cordless option with Escort...

The Cordless Escort (The Solo S2) doesn't have a POP radar alert. If those are what you're leaning between, I'd get the Valentine unless you absolutely must have cordless.

Great info, Tag. I'm a vet, trust me I undertand that it's about more than just the paycheck. However, the fact that I'm ex-navy and now making good money in a field that's expanding and I'm doing well, it's sorta like I don't want to step backwards again, despite the fact that I know I'd enjoy it and feel good about myself.

Arrg!

I have no personal experience with it because I don't know anyone who has it, however it doesn't do radar... just laser. I believe that it works with the 8500 or something like that and they can hook together and be controlled as one unit if you have both. If you do have both, it would make a wicked combination, but would cost a lot. But if you have the money for it, go for it and get both! Keep in mind though that jammers of any kind are kinda sketchy even though I believe that only the radar jammers are illegal.

The 8500 alone is really good at radar, and can detect lasers but probably not to the standards you'd like. So if you have both, you should be in good shape!

EDIT: I looked it up and the ZR3 can also work with the 9500i. The ZR3 is made to be able to hook into an existing escort radar detector to provide really good detection. It's not required to have both, but what good is it to only be able to detect laser?

I have a friend who's a truck driver in Ohio, says he's going to get one for his vette. He said that you need to have one of their (Escort's) detectors, I forget 8500 or 9500i, just to make the jammer work. Also says he's heard a lot of good things about the ZR3. I'm just fishing for different opinions still.

The Jammer I believe costs about $500 and then he's going to get CCA to install it. It has to be hard-wired so the final price is going to climb into the $650-$750 range.

I have nothing but the utmost respect for cops doing their job. I have never been pulled over when I didn't deserve it. More times than not, if you treat the officer with respect, you get a warning and not a ticket. I always pull off the road as far as I can (for their safety) and roll down my window and keep both hands at the top of the wheel until the officer asks to see my license. Yes sir and no sir responses in a sincere tone and no BS. Being a cop has to be a tough deal...they never know what they're walking up on...could be the worst scum-bag in the world to a distracted soccer mom.

TAG - I also suspect that it doesn't hurt to also have a CHL. The cop knows that you have been checked out and are not a bad apple. Since I received mine 12 years ago I been pulled over several times (4-5x) and have always been given a warning. Also, I was always w/in 10mph of the limit as well.

I used to have a radar detector for those long trips from georgia to chicago.
in a couple of weeks Ill be driving from georgia to washington state. thinking bout getting another radar...when your driving 1000 miles plus a radar will keep you awake...lol. so is there any brand that anyone would suggest. and Ive gotta drive through FL, MS, LA, TX, NM, AZ, CA, OR, and WA. anyone with any tips on how driving conditions and cops are feel free to let me know. now were all adults here and Im of a very mixed ethnic background. and Ive already been warned about some places that I shouldent stop for gas at in TX. if there are any other places someone like me might wanna avoid please let me know. I deal with racism enough in GA. sorry I know that was a lil . hey TAG if you see a camaro with GA plates feel free to pull me over...to say hi of course...lol

Mine is a Whistler 1630 model and I love it. It's old as heck and has been discontinued (prolly around 10 years old) but I'm sure Whistler would have another good one on the shelf. Remember, it will save you MOST of the time. All the officer has to do is wait until you get closer to turn that radar on and he's got ya. And...if you have a RDU (radar detector in use) and you're stopped, your pretty much guaranteed to get a ticket.

If you're driving through San Antonio, I'd be happy to "stop" ya and say hi. I'm sorry there are still towns out there that have problems and people like that. I've heard stories too (Vidor out in East Texas). When I'd drive throught there on my way to Louisiana (to see my wife at LSU), there were the rebel flags on bumpers, windows, etc. I see them here too, but this is a city w/ clost to what??? 2 million people? And I rarely see them here. In Vidor, I passed through and saw maybe 5-7 flags here and there on cars.

Ok...back on topic.
