$2500.00 non refundable deposit !!..

I finally decided not to wait for my white SS and went to my local Chevrolet dealer today to order a Victory red SS. (5 allotments with one sold). We worked up the worksheet with options, etc, plus retail MSRP plus $99.00 dealer fee (?), and I agreed to same. When I asked how much of a deposit was needed the salesman stated: $2500.00 non refundable deposit. Non Refundable !?- If the car takes a year to come in- Non refundable, Does not come in as ordered- non refundable, I become ill- non refundable. I left without ordering. I called another larger dealer ( 20 allotments) who advised all they needed was $500.00 and of course it is refundable. Disappointed and still no car on order. Has anyone else run into non refundable deposits?

I ran into a dealer that was asking for something very similar. After maybe 5 minutes talking to the dealer, I realized I needed to find someone else, I suggest you do the same.

Sure wish GM would start selling direct....some good dealers wouldn't like that....sorry. My most recent example was when I bought my Z06. Everything was done all I needed to do was sign the papers. It took me 20 minutes of telling the finance mgr...I don't buy extended warranties...period....over and over and over.

Let me order the car online and pick it up at a dealer if necessary...they can still make a servicing commission or something....just let me go direct to the source.

That's their way of telling you right up front, that they are CROOKS!

Will you get an extended warranty for this vehicle? Is it you daily driver, because mine will be and I'll be putting about 100 miles on it a day?

I must agree with you! I find online what I want and have my Fleet Mgr. do a "dealer trade" (at no charge to me); in most cases it is here the next day. The big three should setup a program for buyers to shop online, and just ask "what day do you want delivered to your home". As we can see most people on this forum know more than your average salesman in the dealership. Any time you can take one more step out of the process, you save money, and less room for mistakes.

Shop around my local dealership did the same they are selling at MSRP but require a non-refundable deposit the funny thing is they called me asking if I was ready to order mine I wanted to see what they had to offer. I told them no thanks I have ordered and purchased 5 cars from your dealership since 2005 and never had to put a deposit down if you want to keep me as a customer for years to come drop the deposit requirements or I will just order from my buddy Tom Henry up in PA. They said they will get back to me on this but for me it does not really matter I am holding out for the convertible but if for some reason GM says it is putting the vert on hold I will then order a coupe with a sunroof 2SS/RS
