Delima Need Help - Camaro- Civic -Cavalier??

Here is my DILEMMA....Landed a position with a great law firm, Outstanding opportunity, yet the commute is 88 miles Round trip.

My Camaro has never been my daily driver, always kept a 4X4 as my daily driver, yet with this new position I need something with great gas mileage and reliable. My 1994 Jeep is not going to cut it....New position is going to require a great amount of dedication, do not want to worry about breaking down. I have $2500 to work with...Here are my options what do you suggest.

Option 1
2000 Chevrolet Cavalier - $2500 Cash - No Loan - Good Gas Mileage
http://www.vividmotorz.com/2000_Chev..._225825040.veh

Anyone have any reviews on the Cavalier from my research seem to be a pretty strong car

Option 2
2004 Honda Civic - $5700 - 12 Month Loan - Great Gas Mileage
http://www.vividmotorz.com/2004_Hond..._252755324.veh

Really do not want to have to take out another loan but.....

Option 3
Simply Use my Camaro - Zero out of Pocket - No loans - OK MPG
yet going to rack up the miles quickly

I really don't want to have to take on a Loan but, i need to have Reliability and piece of mind

HELP!

There. I fixed option 2 for you.

Just run your Camaro. Mines a daily driver year round. I drive it every chance I can get. They were made to run!

I also have a long commute, 90 miles daily round trip. I made the decision to purchase a Hyundai Elantra, it gets great gas MPG and the maintenance cost is low.

If it were my decision I would probably get the Civic they are better high mile cars. I owned a 1995 CAV and a 2003, they were both pretty good cars, not sure how a CAV will hold up to 25k a year though especially on top of the 112 it already has.

My two cents.

Drive your camaro, you want reliability but your two other options are 10+ year old cars?

I picked the Cavalier based on personal experience. I would, however, use the cav temporarily until you can get on a more solid footing financially, and then buy yourself a reliable daily driver.

The cav is very basic, but solid transportation. Its good points are its reliable engine and transmission, and low cost.

Bad points: Body rust (plenty if its a coupe), potential hassle with worn sensors, rough ride. If you get into an accident or if it gets hit, don't worry about fixing it because of its low value.

If you can get a year and a half out of the cavalier then you'll do well. After this period, look to getting a new or low mileage used car.

I wouldn't even buy a 2000 cavalier for our no credit check, Lease Here Pay Here car lot!

Honda Civic, lots of transmission issues for those years and very expensive to fix. Most likely got your normal oil leaks to address, c/v joints, etc.

Why not drive the Camaro, I think that is what it is made for. You must have bought for a reason. My Camaro is my DD, it's raining outside. Some people don't drive there car in the rain. I could drive another vehicle, but I enjoy the Camaro so much more, even in the rain. Do what you feel is best for you, if the Camaro could talk, we'll you know the answer!

I was never a fan of driving a beater car to keep another car nice. I tried it in the past and I just ended up selling the "nice" car because I hardly ever drove it. That said if you had a V8 Camaro I'd say maybe go with the Cavalier just to save on gas. Since the V6 already gets decent mileage you wouldn't really be gaining enough to justify the expense of another car. You have to look at all the expenses to make an informed decision. For the beater you have to pay the vehicle cost, tax, title, repairs, insurance, and interest if you take out a loan. Personally I think taking out a loan for a beater car is crazy.

You also said you wanted a reliable car. The only thing the Civic and Cavalier have going for them is that they are simple. Other than that they are older high mileage cars that have probably not been treated all that great so expect to make repairs.

Finally do you want to be the new hot shot at the law firm that drives a Camaro, or the D bag who drives a POS? Not to mention I'd rather project success not poverty. Also having an impressive job and driving a Camaro can't hurt with the ladies. On the other hand most women wouldn't get anywhere near a guy who drives a Cavalier no matter how impressive his job is.

IMO, I wouldn't daily drive the Camaro, I don't with mine and never will. I'd lease something, a decent AWD preferably. I find the Equinox's do well, the four banger is a bit lacking power wise, but the economy rocks, people love them and they lease really well.
