To those wondering about the naming issue with SLP, GM resolved it before we even thought of it.
The steering wheel, looks like you can't please everyone. The current wheel is unique but people complained that you couldn't grip it, and now they change it to something more conventional and now people are complaining that it isn't unique I don't care about the name, one way or the other. I was fine with Z28, I'm fine with ZL1. I don't think either one fits a supercharged Camaro, but its not all that important. Getting past all that, it is going to be an awesome car. No doubt about it.

Quote from first page:
"Yes - the name may prove to be somewhat controversial - after all, the quickest way I know to get an argument going within the Camaro Enthusiast community is to bring up the subject of SS versus Z28 versus other names........and that's a good thing in that it shows the incredible passion that the Camaro brings forth from our most enthusiastic supporters. We hope that many of you will be able to view this latest in a long, proud line of Camaros that have captured the hearts and minds of millions over the past 40+ years........it will be on display at Chicago for run-of-show. We'll let you know in the coming weeks where the ZL1 will make appearances" Now I'm just guessing here but it seems to me that there will be more name plates for the Camaro. So to take on the Boss Mustang, maybe GM will build a Z28;lighter with lots of suspension upgrade or even a strip down version of the SS with more natural horsepower. Who knows...with all this speculation that was going before this announcement, maybe now there will be more speculation that a Z28 version will come out. Way to keep us in the dark GM.

Finally busts in through the door of Camaro5, damn this place is packed!
Ah there you guys are! ZL1, coming back from the dead and looking fantastic! (in my opinion). It may not be the "Z-28" which many enthusiasts were lusting for, but this is a beast and there is no denying it, I'm salivating just looking at the pictures. The hood the interior all of it THIS is my mythical creature! No offense to SLP but if I had the money, I'd put it on the table for this baby right now. To those complaining, go ahead and do so, it's your right but you know like I know there are some that are just way too hard to please. GM I applaud you , I knew (just like everyone else here) that something like this was in the works, I may be a nobody but I do recognize when someone does an outstanding job, you LISTENED (or read, whatever) to the fanatics so thank you. P.S. a big thanks to those AWESOME people that dropped hints here and there. Speculating till the last minute, checking the forums like if I was on crack lol, gawd I love this site!

I agree with SSCamaroZ28 and I'm not new to the brand (having owned: 1967, 1976, 1977, 1982, 2010). ZL1 doesn't have the same appeal as Z28.

Hideous.
I like the new engine and the new exhaust. Beyond that - hideous. "Okay guys, what plastic parts can we change and.... add more stuff to..." "Oooo, and suede everywhere inside, it'll look awesome" Haha.

Nice, other than lighter wheels, I hope they tried to make it lighter than 4,000lbs

I'll take hard plastic over suede any day. It adds more to the interior and makes it more interesting to look at. The steering wheel is my biggest concern, not ugly by any means, just looks a little out of place. That may be just because I'm used to seeing the "deep dish" steering wheel the Camaro currently has.
ZL1 makes sense to me. It has heritage and makes more sense if you ask me. It also reminds me of the ZR1 as well. They may be trying to keep the names similar because they are both high performance cars under the same brand. In any case, that is one sexy beast. And hopefully we get all the numbers on it soon. Hoepfully it hits up the MN Autoshow....(Fat chance, I know)
