Tanneau cover took flight

A large bat was spotted on the 101 freeway on saturday afternoon.

I dont usually put the cover on unless I am going long distances or am at a car show. Yesterday we were a few hours away, and had the cover on. I always make sure its clipped but apparently it wasnt enough. I guess the only good thing was there was a group of us, and I was in the front. Ddunrider was behind me running his GoPro and got the footage. (at about 20 seconds) We're all are lucky that it didnt hit anyone, and nobody ran over it.
Buffenshine was able to stop and get it for me. It landed in the center median.

I talked to my dealer today and they are going to replace it for me. Here is the video and some pictures.

I had that happen to me but it was before I put the clips in. I don't trust it with or without the clips. It doesn't really give you any warning when it's going to let loose.

We were behind you a lot and I never saw it lifting, but when it did lift it just went straight up about 25' in the air opened up and flew straight down into the median. Could have been worse so glad it didn't hit anyone. Was exciting to watch though.

Yikes! That is AWESOME that you got it on video! I know it's not supposed to be funny, but I can't help but laugh when I watch the video, especially after all of the posts about it almost flying off. It reminds me of the cow scene in Twister... "Tonneau cover! ..... Another tonneau cover!"

My video skipped it too the first time it played, so i had to go back and watch it again to see it. Glad they are replacing it for you.

Not a surprise...

Mine actually seems to be holding significantly better since the dealer replaced it... there's a lot of helpful tips to assist with this issue in the original thread, but bottom line- its a shoddy design.
