I hear Red Bull Racing is entering Vettel's RB9 into a tractor pull contest. Just because they run anything they own. At several different formats. Just to see what they will do.

I love drag racing my 1LE. The car can run both tracks well with a few mods. And we don't have to worry about the Z/28 breaking gears and axles. I am sure those 305's will not hook. The sidewalls are too shallow and stiff. The only way you will really know what a Z28 can do will be to bolt on a set of DRs.

And really with about 440-450 RWHP and the weight not far off a 1SS, the times will be close to a lightly cammed bolt-on LS3 SS. So 12.2-12.4 on stock tires and perhaps high 11s with practice and DRs and a 1/4 tank of gas. Hoping to see one at Atco.

ever hear the 427 run at idle that they put in it? That thing wouldnt last the 8 minute lap

Nasty nasty engine

the boosted 5.3 stands a better chance but ultimately Z is right. The Z/28 is not a drag car period.

And if you did drag it you would swap on Hoosier drag radials on some Welds on the rears and 3.5"ers on the front

Better off buying the ZL1 or SS and going the drag route

I don't know, to tell you the truth. I just searched up "2014 Camaro Z28 1/4 mile times" and that came up.

If they test the 1/4 mile time of a base Honda Civic they will test it on a 500hp Z28. Track car or not it's also street legal and owners WILL be doing their own tests. Not all of them but my guess is a lot of them.

I'd run it in the qrtr if I owned one. If need be I'd bulletproof the rear axle to take hard launches. No biggy.

So you would take a $70,000? Car that it's rearend is designed for track use and change it to 1/4 mile? You must have tons of money!

I think it's rather a moot point of whether the Z28 is a drag car or not. What everyone on this forum knows, is that nearly every car magazines and the typical gearhead car person uses quarter mile performance as a measure of a given car's power levels including the ability to put it to the ground. I am unaware of any popular car magazine that doesn't test each reviewed car on it's acceleration capabilities...if not 1/4, at least 0-60. The Z28 is no exception.
