1st cute dog. I've had two dogs in my lifetime both labs, both at 6 weeks old, and it's a great chance to bond with them while their young. What I've always done is first take them to the vet to get the check ups and shots done so nothing sneaks up. The sooner you get all this done the better and healthier your dog will be, and cost you less also.
Both of my labs were indoor dogs and while we did have accidents in the house I took them to the door every two hours and put the leash on them then took them out and used a phrase for peeing "find your spot" and gave them a treat when they did. Eventually both dogs walked to the door and sit when they want to go out. The main thing is to give your dog plenty of exercise and make it feel apart of your family, both dogs I've owned are a blast. My current lab is extremely playful but is loyal. |

Make sure you feed your dog quality dog food. I learned the hard way that once you start them on cheap dog food it's hard to move them to healthier food. My dog now used to only eat kibbles and bits but he eats purina faithfully now. His coat has gotten better and his energy levels have improved, which means longer walks/runs for me but I love it.

feed her eukanuba puppy food for large breed dogs (while she is a puppy obviously), huskys are very energetic and need food with high protein such as the large breed formula even thought the husky is consider a medium breed size dog,
then when she is a adult switch her to adult food for large breed formula (same reason) and be ready to give your vacuum a work out, huskys shed their coat twice a year and it comes off in big lumps, if you don't stay on top with the showers and brushing your house is going to be cover in hair, don't ask me how I know, but huskys are the best dogs IMO I wouldn't change anything on my husky.

Blue Buffalo brand Oatmeal & Fish (available at PetSmart) is working well for my gassy malamute. Eukanuba has a ton of corn in it which your husky does not need. Stay away from grocery store brands as they are ALL crap.

Stick with grain free foods ,and get the best you can afford.
We have two boxers ,we switched a while ago to an ultra premium food. The difference it made in their eyes, coat and energy level was amazing. Go to this web sight to grade your dogfood.http://pawprintcitytimes.blogspot.co...ing-scale.html |

I feed my dogs Wellness - Whitefish and sweet potato
http://www.wellnesspetfood.com/produ...54#ingredients When I was a kid living in Lake Tahoe ,CA , my mother used to breed Huskies.I now live in Texas ,and would LOVE to get a Husky or Malamute, but I feel it gets too hot here to have one.To me it's cruel to own a dog like that in a warm weather climate.

Make sure it has water all the time. It's very hot in Kuwait for a husky. I'd recommend taking a training class or at least doing a lot of research if it's your first dog. . . There are lots of important details of training a dog and keeping it very healthy.

We have a lab....best dog ever! When we got him he would take us for a walk / run. We got a collar called a "gentle leader" Amazing! really changed him. Also he jumped a lot on people. he never jumped on us because we trained him not to with negative training. If we would have just turned away and not given the attention he wanted it would have been more universal. If we wanted him to leave somethin alone we would have him onthe leash, and pull him away from it and say "leave it". The rest train with treats.
We tried a bell by the door when it was time to "go outside". Unfortunately it turned into the "play with me! Play with me!" bell. We took the bell away, and he started bumping bar stools into the breakfast bar to make a sound. That dog is smarter than its owner for sure! I wish I would have trained him to do his business in a certain area of the yard rather than where ever. BTW....great looking dog! |

these rules only apply in the united states.4 weeks is very young but hey you might just have to do a little more to comfort the pup. i myself have 3 american bull dogs smallest one is 140 lbs .the only thing that i did was crate train all my dogs. i only do it when i go out and when a get home there is no mess to clean up. i also crate them when i have alot of company my dogs think they are lap dogs. as for food do what your budget allows .dont buy dry food with coloring just plain brown colored food .we also have the electric fence to keep our dogs on our property. also with huskeys they love the airconditioner.good luck .any questions my wife is also a breeder.below is my puppy .

Walk, it, walk it, walk it.......did I mention walk it?
A well excercised dog is a well mannered dog. Less likely to chew things, get on the furniture and cause trouble. Walk the dog EVERY day at least once for the rest of it's life......Having a dog is alot of responsiblity. We have a black lab, got her at 8 wks. she's now 7 yrs. She still gets at least one walk everyday, at least a mile or two, snow, rain, cold, hot.....she gets walked everyday. She's the best dog ever. Did I mention walk it and get it plenty of excercise?

As far as house training. I got my dog while I was on vaction. I was home with it for 2 weeks. I would take it out for a walk about every 3 or 4 hours. This way he got use to going out side quickly. I never had a problem with him pooping in the house. when I went back to work, I locked him into the bathroom. His bladder hadn't developed enough to make it a full 8 hours without peeing. when I got home, there would be 2 or 3 puddles on the tile for and he would be sitting in the corner with his ears and tail down because he knew he wasn't suppose to do it.

ohh man!,,, dont get offended, but for your first dog..you could not have picked a worse choice..with an experienced person fine,...but there are better choices for sure..good luck, but if you can exchange this pup before you bond with it,,then do some home work on internet about first time dog owners and types.. its only fair to the you, and the dog most of all...good luck...
