DIY: Loose Sunroof shade fix

I did not have this problem with the 2010 that I had briefly, but it was a problem from the start in the 2011....

The sunroof shade would slide backward about 2 inches open with any modestly rapid acceleration... very frustrating sunroof problem. I figured i could take it to the dealer and let them rip apart the roof, or I could find a simple way to take matters in my own hands...

So, I took two small pieces of the felt-side of some velcro about 1/2 inch by 1/2inch and placed them in various spots around the sunroof shade track. Eventually, i found the right spot to get it to stay-put and to minimize the amount of 'lift' of the shade... Simple fix that took all of 10 minutes and most of that time was finding the right spots to get the right amount of resistance and minimal "lift" to the shade.

Hope this helps out someone else with the same sunroof issue.

The velcro can easily be peeled off if there is a better way.... I'd appreciate any advice you can offer.

Here is the advice I received from the above member...

Quote:
The sunshade has steel ribs on the top of the shade going side car, during install of the sunroof the shade gets pushed up. This causes the shade tabs to ride high and the force to move the shade goes down.

All you have to do is pull down on the front edge, right at the handle. Only pull down a little then check the force it takes to move it. By pulling down what you are doing is putting more force on the shade to trim welt. I would check force first then start pulling down little by little till you get the force you want. If you’re not too sure on how to do this I can send you pictures showing at what point to pull.
DO NOT PULL DOWN HARD OR YOU WILL BE BUYING A NEW SHADE.
I have not tried this yet, and if I can not get it to work, I will defintely be taking him up on getting some pics, but it seems a straight forward thing to try.
