NEW CAMARO OWNER, NEED HELP!!!

Hey everyone. I just got a brand new 2012 2LS White Camaro with black racing stripes on Friday. There's already some dirt on the back bumper and whatnot and it needs to be washed. This is my first car because I'm only 17 so basically I am just looking for tips on how to wash my baby. Please let me know everything you do and everything that you need in order to wash this kind of car. I mean absolutely everything I need to know how to keep this car perfect for the whole time I have it. Also, advice on the stripes would be helpful. Thank you all!

Turtle Wax Ice products for off the shelf. The best however is Adams Polish sold from vendors on this website.

Adams even has a local distributor in Orlando. Big savings in delivery cost to us.

Use a quality car shampoo, and two buckets. Use only microfiber towels or mitt, and only touch the cloth to the car when it's WET. I only use a cloth ONCE for the body, and from then on, it's a wheel only rag. Rinse the cloth in the first bucket, and use the second bucket for fresh soapy water. Dry the car by using a leaf blower to avoid scratches. Get the paint spotless and apply a paste wax like meguiars per their directions. Turtle wax is garbage, as is pretty much any liquid wax.

Before you do any washing ,,put the hose on high and rinse all DUST and stuff off. Then proceed with above suggestions...and do not use a POWER WASHING MACHINE!!

Welcome from one Summit White owner to another! I am a big fan of Meguiar products. And definitely use microfiber towels, you can machine wash and dry them but DO NOT put any fabric softener in the wash and DO NOT use dryer sheets.

And always wash the car starting at the top and work your way down... There'a a whole sub-forum on this site just for detailing. I suggest asking your question there and reading through threads over there. Congrats on your new ride, btw; I wish I could have had something that cool when I was 17.

I need a gatdamb leaf blower. Drying w/ microfiber still means swirl marks. Gotdang paint, in the right sun, looks like a hurricane tracking map.

Good luck and congratulations!!! Lucky for you you have a white car! If you have not yet chosen a wax or sealant I highly recommend Griot's paint sealant. I have used on my 2010 Coupe and is it wonderful to keep bugs, bird poop and misc trash from messing up your paint. I do my car 3-4 times a year and it makes a big difference. Haven't had a chance to do the Vert yet and already seeing some surface scratches. ARRGGG. I use the two bucket with grit guards system. I have almost as much $ in cleaning products as I do in mods...no probably more!

Just my $.02

I've always been a fan of Nu-Finish... when I got my car, I put a good 2-3 coats on over the span of 2 weeks. Since then I use McGuires NXT 2.0... Every year I'll do another Nu-Finish just to get that "sealant-protectant"

I use (and I know a lot of ppl don't agree these days,) Armor All for the interior...I wipe down the dash, apply with a cloth pad, then wipe with a micro fiber rag.

For the windshielf I use pledge, multi-surface cleaner, and wipe all windows with the rubberized window-specific rags.

I also use McGuires leather protectant/conditioner for the seats.

I dont have a particular go-to for the tires, but whatever I use, I rub in, instead of just leaving wet- it doesn't kick up on the sides that way.

I use 303 protectant for the convertible top...

Just take your time and you'll be fine. Congrats on the car, enjoy and welcome to C5!
